Murtaya road test - Supercar or not?

Words and pictures by Chris Pickering
There’s nothing quite like the buzz of driving the right car, on the right road, at the right time. Unfortunately you never know when it’s going to occur and frequently the best driving machines are those too extreme, too impractical, for daily use. You find yourself about to drive home in your regular hack on a sunny Friday afternoon thinking “if only I was in the other car…”

A day with AMS and Arden Automotive

Hands up… Who’s been to Cornwall? I have and I can vouch that it’s a long way. Even starting from neighbouring Devon it takes some time to reach the west of the county. If, on the other hand, you happen to be coming from somewhere like London the inevitable procession of caravans between you and the Cornish Riviera can be akin to medieval torture.

High Performance, Low Insurance
Posted by Madabout News on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 at 12:40 AM |
YOUNGER drivers often seem to get a hard time from insurance companies.
But Marlin can get a 22-year-old on the road, in a two-litre Honda K20-powered 5EXi, for around £600. The premium for a 25-year-old, in the same car, can be as low as £200.
Not bad for a real sportscar with real sportscar performance. And it’s all through a respected specialist insurance broker.

Caterham Superlight R500 goes like stink - in summary
Posted by Madabout News on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at 10:56 PM |
The whole unveiling PR was somewhat ridiculous with Caterham showing us sneak peeks of their new R500 prior to the official release. It turned out that the Caterham Superlight R500 looks like any other Caterham that has come before it. Why did they bother with this angle?
The R500 is about performance, about making it as light as possible, giving it exquisite handling, mental amounts of power and grip. Cut the crap next time Caterham and just cut to the chase.
Here is what they have to say about the new Superlight R500.

Article By Chris Pickering
What would you say is the most evocative race in Motorsport? The Indy 500? The Monaco grand prix perhaps? For many, one race stands above all others in motorsport; a festival of speed and endurance that has run for more than 80 years. It is of course Le 24 Heures du Mans and of the many cars to have competed there, few are as dramatic and exciting as the prototype racers of the late 60s. Amongst the GT40s and Porsche 917s competing in 1969 sat a car called the Piper GTR. Now a small firm in Essex is producing hand built replicas of this little known sports racer.
