Ginetta restructure on the back of International success and head for Le Mans
Posted by Madabout News on Sunday, June 7th, 2009 at 09:35 PM

Ginetta Cars today announces significant changes to the senior management team which addresses an increase in international demand for the brand.

Richard Dean, Global Sales Ambassador will now concentrate on opening up emerging international markets with a focus on Asia and the Americas. Dean has already been instrumental in establishing Ginetta championships across Europe including Portugal and Spain and was also responsible for the debut of two UK-made G50 cars at the recent Asian Festival of Speed.

However, the Le Mans 2009 driver will not be taking his eye off competitive racing just yet as his new role encompasses the Ginetta Driver Management programme, which has seen the likes of Nigel Moore rise to the top of his game.

"I'm delighted to be tackling this new role" Dean said. "Ginetta is at a point of rapid world wide expansion and I'm looking forward to focusing my expertise on this hungry international market. Having 2 G50's on the grid at Sepang is just the start for us - in 2010 we plan to have Ginetta's in as many international GT events as possible."

Meanwhile the UK management team is now headed by Jamie Robinson who takes on the role of Operations Manager. Robinson joined the business at the time of its purchase by Tomlinson in 2005 and has been integral in developing the company along with Stewart Linn (current British GT4 champion) and Mike Simpson (multiple British Kart champion), all of whom have strong motorsport backgrounds. The three will continue to work alongside Tomlinson.

Robinson said of his new appointment: "This is a huge challenge for me. We have many projects underway at Ginetta including our electric car prototype and the further development of the new G40 road car. I can't wait to be instrumental in leading these with a team that is totally dedicated to putting Ginetta at the forefront of the racing and road car spectrum."

Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson said: "My philosophy has always been entrenched with having the right team and I know both Richard and Jamie share my vision for the future. With them both at the helm, Ginetta is set to become an industry leader in terms of innovation, design and performance."

2009 has already been a sterling year for Ginetta. One of its latest developments - the G50Z, a variation on the G50 and powered by a Zytek engine, made a stunning debut at the Brit Car GT Race at Silverstone in March and won both British GT races at Rockingham in May.

Furthermore Ginetta will be making a historic first appearance at this year's Le Mans in the Ginetta-Zytek GZ09S. Lawrence Tomlinson, Richard Dean and 17 year old Ginetta employee Nigel Moore will be competing in the LMP1 class - a bold move by the British manufacturers who continue to lead the pace both on and off the track.
