Ginetta to launch new G40 model at Autosport show 2009
Posted by Madabout News on Monday, November 2nd, 2009 at 11:16 PM

Ginetta will use the Autosport Show, which runs from 14-17 January 2010, to launch the new G40, which brings the UK's first multi-platform road-to-race car to market. As well as being fully road legal, the G40 will race in the British Touring Car-supporting Ginetta Junior Championship in 2010 and will also be eligible for a range of other racing categories.

With the G40, Ginetta has continued its quest to produce the safest race car possible and, like the G50, the new model addresses a range of safety issues. The car will feature a safety cage 50 times stronger than the minimum
2009 FIA homologation regulations and will also be fitted with front and rear crash zones, as well as increased side impact bars, all focused on improved driver safety.

An initial batch of 26 cars is set to be produced and will replace the current Junior model, which played its part in a dramatic 2009 season, when 15-year-old Sarah Moore became the first ever female champion on the BTCC package during the final rounds of the year at Brands Hatch.

"There is no better place for Ginetta to unveil the new G40 than the Autosport Show," said Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson. "We debuted both the G50 and the G50Z at the exhibition and I'm delighted that show-goers will have the first-ever glimpse of Ginetta's latest launch.

"Aside from launching the G40, Ginetta will also be making another exciting announcement, which is sure to have a big impact on the racing fraternity. We will showcase our full range to motorsport lovers and I hope to see many visitors to the Ginetta stand over the course of the four days. The show is an incredible celebration of the British car industry."

Autosport Show Director Ian France added: "We are thrilled that Ginetta has chosen to reveal another new car to the public at the show. The G50 has been a huge success for the company since it was revealed at the
2008 show and we hope that the G40 will be just as successful."

The G40, which features a sealed 1800cc Zetec engine and will be priced at £24,950, will be officially launched on Thursday 14 January and will be on display on the Ginetta stand throughout the four-day event.
