Very tidy, how's the puppy/dog...

Charman.tech 20th November 2016 09:36

Very very impressive

molleur, swifty, garyh and chairman.tech - thanks, chaps. It is always nice to get feedback, even if progress is very slow.

Despite being in its sixth year, the build continues to give a lot of pleasure and it provides a nice contrast to everyday life. After all, I don't have a deadline, so I may as well just enjoy and keep ticking off the tasks.

I forgot to take pics of the handbrake (next time), but it is fitted and appears to work well.

Today was spent fitting the MG Midget pedal box. The throttle pedal is from a Spitfire and will need tweaking.

Tomorrow I shall refit the steering which will make pushing her in and out of the garage a little easier. Then I shall lay the brake and fuel lines which will be rewarding.

lancelot link 27th December 2016 19:49

looking good ...whats the issue with the throttle ? travel ?

oxford1360 27th December 2016 19:52

It's just the position relative to the brake pedal.

Paul L 28th December 2016 07:57

Oxford - Good to see you are still making forward progress.

I really admire your 'Zen like' approach to the build, as I know I struggled with how long my build was taking.

It will certainly be a spectacular car when it is finally on the road.

Good luck, Paul. :)

Laying brake lines at the moment -

The clips need attaching.

Always fun to use a new tool making neat bends -

Paul L 30th January 2017 19:26

Oxford - Brake lines look good so far.

I imagine it has been quite chilly working in the woods recently.

Good luck, Paul. :)

Any updates Oxford ?

oxford1360 5th May 2017 16:27

So, my plan is to have a completely functioning moon-buggy on which a strengthened body can sit.......and be removed quickly and easily to make working on the car a pleasure. This means that nothing - speedo drive, throttle cables, brake pipes etc. - can pass through the body..........

I give you my hydraulics......so far.......

I'm using a dual circuit Midget pedal box and master cylinders. Bending and routing the pipes has been rather fun and therapeutic.

molleur 5th May 2017 17:44

Good job bending those brake pipes, very neat!

lancelot link 5th May 2017 18:00

SECONDED ..NICELY DONE ...Takes f'ing ages getting it nice and even doesn't it ? !!
I think Phil J has the same approach to his builds ...running driving buggy clad with a bodyshell ...

Paul L 6th May 2017 05:47

Oxford - Zen and the art of Sammio building.

I hope you are able to make the most of the brighter/warmer(ish) days.

Good luck, Paul. :)

Details like nicely routed copper pipes that are dead straight with even bends can really make the finishing top notch in an engine bay, something I like to see but have never been able to achieve, how the heck do you get dead straight runs? Bends are not so bad, it's the straight runs :frusty:

Nice one. Have seen them before but were around the £200 mark, £40 odd seems much more reasonable, might have to invest in one of those.

oxford1360 7th May 2017 21:26

Straighteners are the only answer when you get anal with a Sammio.

It's amazing who you bump into down at The Glade. Today it was a real life Scottie, coming to collect a Spit engine.

It's always good to meet up with forum members. Thanks for the beer, and check out that ride.

Paul L 31st May 2017 18:13

When two of my favourite build threads merge.

Oxford - I'm sure Scottie was impressed with your build.

Good luck, Paul. :)

Paul L 25th August 2017 05:46

Copied across from the Formosa 120 GR thread...

This is great news.

Good luck, Paul. :)
