Best place to sell specialist old car bits - Marchal Lights
I have a pair of Marchal 812 100E lights, one even boxed, that I am looking to sell. If I stick them on ebay I will probably get 1p unless someone who needs some spots them whereas the last ones sold that I can find went for 100 Euros on catawiki.com.
Is there anywhere you can recommend me posting them, or of course, do you want them? https://i.postimg.cc/LsV6qnCD/Marchal-Lights.jpg |
Put them on ebay as a buy it now at a sensible price and they will sell.
Be greedy and you will still have them next year. |
I've found for selling anything, shall we say "specialist" that Ebay generates far more interest than any other selling medium. Because (certainly the last time I looked ) it costs to have a But-It-Now, I'd suggest to sell them on an auction basis, but setting the starting price at the minimum you will be happy with. I've been trying to sell a brand-new crossflow manifold for a couple of years, and no luck so far so I may have to reluctantly drop the price. The other thing with Buy-It-Now is that it has a 30 day minimum time period (again, the last time I looked).

You can put things on ebay with both auction bids and a buy it now price.
Set the reserve at the minimum you'll take for them and the buy it now option will remain active until the reserve is met, which will allow someone who really wants them to impulse buy. As soon as someone bids over the reserve, the buy it now will disappear. One thing to consider, though, is that with just a buy it now, you can set the options to make the buyer pay as soon as they click the buy it now button or your item will remain listed. That way you won't get ghost bidders who outbid everyone else in the auction then vanish. Good luck selling them :) |
Sold via the Tribute group on Facebook

Aha! I knew social media would be useful for something :)

Yeah, I might try the same approach on my Z300S when I sell it later this year

Wife wants something comfortable with four seats.
I want something with no roof and more than 500BHP. Limited options so we compromised and decided on a Bentley Continental Convertible for the time being |
So- nothing ostentatious then. Are you able to play football now?
Good choice for the run down to Antibes. |
|
Here you go: no roof, way more than 500hp and a lot faster than the Bentley -

WCA cruising around the streets of Sandbanks, yes I can see it now !! - https://i.postimg.cc/x1jpLtLC/fake-tan.png Amazing what a bit of car filler and dye can do. Do I look better for the work I have had done? I have just got back from the tan booth and spoken with Troy and he is going to touch up my roots and give me a quick blow job in the morning |
Ha ha, you can actually get four people sitting comfortably on a Sidewinder as it's three metres long. It helps in the comfort stakes if you wear padded cycling shorts.
You just have to hang on real tight when it launches, though, as it'll go from nought to mach 3.5 in six seconds... |

Pistonheads has done a series of Brave Pill features on Bentley Continentals:
https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-...e%20Pill/42962 The comments sections make interesting reading. There are some large bills related but also some interesting workrounds. I like the one about the £800 replacement rear lights when a 10p LED fails. A light cooking in a fan oven to melt the adhesive gives access, then out with the soldering iron- job done. (Cook the light unit, not the whole car). Spares prices vary a lot depending on how/where you buy them- the threads are well worth reading if you're serious about one. Lots of VW parts, you just need to find out the equivalents. No need to pay: Discs for the front-2k each. (for the ceramic ones) Pads ,front £1690 plus vat. ( -"-) A quick search on eBay found a set of front discs and pads for £899 Rear lamp -£1400 plus Still the air filters are only £100 each but there are four! |
Mostly Audi Q7 parts from what I have been reading.
I remember the rear wing mirror glass for the Ferrari Testarossa was something like £400 and it had the same Fiat part number as the Fiat 131 wing mirrors which cost £9.99 (or something like that) |
I am also planning on buying the post 2011 facelift which gets better reviews for reliability.
Basically they built the first one. Fixed the problems on the second one. Added more pretty toys for the third one. |
Sorry Nick, thought you had already purchased one ! There is still time to save yourself, go and buy something with a bit of style and class !
|
Suggestion please : 4 seats, comfortable, now roof 500+ BHP, no missiles
|
Slightly short of your 500 BHP, but not much ! Low mileage one like this will be like new !

I hadn't realised the DB9 had rear seats so might check it out. The last AM I looked at was a V12 DB7 which looked beautiful but the interior appeared to be made from an Airfix kit with some leather glued to it. I hope the DB9 is better. I will see what I can find at the weekend to have a try. The wife still doesn;t want me to look at the Maserati which is the obvious shoice

Okay, if taste is no barrier, how about one of these -
https://www.overfinch.com/models/ran...-by-overfinch/ |
Okay - there are a few cars that are 'out' due to repeats or disinterest and the 4x4 / SUV is one entire category that gets removed. Unfortunately it seems to be the one where most car makers have been investing their time and effort recently.
S-Class Cabrio - Wife wants one because she likes Mercedes but I had the V12 CL and have the silly SLK so it will possibly feel like just another fast taxi. Bentley GTC - The more reviews I read, the more I wonder why no-one seems to be able to run one for more than 18 months without a £1,000+ fault developing on toip of standard maintenance Porsche Panamera - No cabrio but also anything less than the Turbo seem to drive like any other big heavy saloon. I don't want to need to check the badge to see if it is a Porsche or an Audi Maserati GranCabrio - This is what started the idea. I have always wanted a Maserati for no rational reason I can think of. Unfortunately the first time I got within 2 days of buying one I snapped my foot off and it took 6 years to 'recover'. I then tried again in 2020. I found a great car and test drove in on March 4th, negotiate on price and struck a deal on March 20th and agreed to finalise and collect the car on Friday March 28th - then lockdown closed the UK on March 26th so it never happened. I am worried that if I try a third time the Earth will be hit by a giant meteor or something. |
Okay, I'm liking your thinking on the Maserati as I'm quote prone to buying things just because I want to myself.
I also hadn't realised that Overfinch seem to have gone from a high performance tuning company to a business that adds extra bling to the most blingy cars currently available out of the box, so sorry for posting that link. I know you're looking for a 500+bhp convertible with four seats, but that's a big ask due to the structural rigidity of a convertible not being as inherent as it is in an enclosed shell, so there really aren't going to be many production cars that fit that brief. Depending on your budget, you could commission a Stateside Hot Rod & Custom Garage to build you a big four seat American cruiser with Auto transmission, A/C, cruise control and a 500hp V8, then have it shipped over here. That would definitely get you some positive attention, just be careful in the corners. Alternatively, our American cousins offer some pretty impressive high performance coupes these days, and if you really want the mostest power in a production car, then take a look at the Dodge Demon - https://www.classic-trader.com/uk/ca...on/2018/126097 As standard it was a single seater, but you could tick the options list for a front passenger seat, rear seats and a carpeted trunk for the eye watering price of an extra $3. Yes, that really is three bucks for three more seats and a carpet. Good luck with your quest for awesome power! |

I got one after I'd answered the question- "What car would I LIKE to drive?" Just remember to check for biscotti front suspension mounts. |

It may go back to having owned one of these a few years ago:

A friend of mine has a GranCabrio, nice car, sounds great when you give some welly. It's a big car and the styling isn't anything special other than the front end grill and badge. I don't like the factory fitted button that bypass's the exhaust silencers, thought that was what a "Kevin" type youth would fit on his Ford XR3 in 1985 !
I like the look of these, maybe an option...... https://www.motor1.com/reviews/42052...driving-notes/ |
BMW 8 - another good call. I should be able to pick up something within the £40-£50K budget. I will ponder on until I get the Barchetta ready for sale
|
6 Series worth a look too, especially the "M6" version.
