How to register a home built car with DVLA?

I would like to construct a 1930's style open top sports car (something akin to the Jaguar SS100), based on the mechanicals of a more modern Jag (I have been offered an XJ40 which might be suitable) I propose constructing an appropriate chassis with aluminium bodywork. It will be a retirement project & is expected to take 5-10 years to complete. Having read some background information on this forum, it appears the project could be challenged at the first hurdle with regard to registering it for use on British roads.
Is there any advice you could give me as to how I can achieve my goal?
Thank you.

I think the issue you will have is meeting all the Iva requirements around the radii of items especially with the style of car you are think of.

But there are some bits you should read first

http://www.autobionics.co.uk/IVA.html

Just read some of the things this failed on to,give you an idea

You can build a car to met the requirements but it will be difficult...there are stories of building a car to pas the Iva then changing it after to suit what you want

Thank you. Interesting; having read the articles you recommended, I would like to think the problems are not insurmountable

Having read the small print you recommended, am I under the correct belief you are allowed one original component from a donor car, in the new build (eg engine) If this is true, how to get round the components which would logically also come from the donor - eg drivetrain/suspension etc?
Thank you.
