So, who has ordered an Auburn body kit from Chris / Tribute?

just seen the Auburn on ebay thats another on my "want one" list

is a Scimitar the donor ?

That is a great looking car - resto mod would be awesome!

Scimitar is 28" too short if the Auburn body is moulded off a stock one.
It's a big car so I'm not sure if any separate chassis car would do. Even the Sherpa pickup is rather too short. All that I can find that's near are American trucks.

Did they buy the auburn that was up for sale a while back and mould off that?

I was almost buying one last night to drop onto my Navarra which is the right wheel base and width when Chris pointed out I would need to lower it and my wife pointed out I love her more than cars.

The ride height on the Navarra is probably adjustable but my love for wife is not*.

Navarra up for grabs is anyone wants a good one for a donor.

*also pointed out we did not need a third two seater to replace the only four seater I own. She suggested replacing with a Skoda Octavia but I am holding out for a Lambo Espada

If you can afford the Lambo you can probably afford to upgrade the wife at the same time. Go for it!

From my experience you could buy at least a couple of Lambos for the price of a divorce!

Tribute Automotive - AUBURN SPEEDSTER replica bodyshell.

This replica of the Art Deco era 1934-1936 Auburn 851 Speedster is available, made to order, in white gel coated fibreglass as shown. Other pictures show original and kustom built examples and concepts.

This listing is for a body shell and panels only, as shown, which can be fitted to various existing chassis'. Donor vehicles that have been used previously on U.S. Auburn replicas are various Lincoln/Dodge/Chrysler/Chevys that have a
wheelbase of 126". Another option is to use a chassis from pick up trucks such as the Ford Ranger /Mazda B series (117" wheelbase/shorten the body) or Nissan Navara (126" wheelbase). The Ranger/Mazda can be found in 2WD and shares the same track width as the Auburn. If using an unmodified existing chassis the finished vehicle will be classed as a "re body" by the DVLA and will be exempt from an IVA test.

Metal trim items such as windscreen frame, badges, door hinges will also be available shortly.

Unfortunately, even if I just suggested another kit car project at this time, I would be risking death, or at the very least a "Bobbitt". :eek:

Auburn Speedsters are right up there on my list of cars too ....amazing cars , especially when mildly modified like the James Hatfield one on Chris's listing ...

I can't afford the Lambo, I can't even afford a new Skoda :-(

It is a negotiation strategy. Negotiated values normally end up in the middle 60% of the difference between original positions.

If she says £10K and I say £20K it will end up being something between £12K and £18K.

If she says £10K and I say £200K it will end up being something between £20K and £180K.

This also leads to the 'failed negotiation' strategy if you don't want to change anything. basically we both agree we should do something but as the cost is going to be between £20K and £180K then we can't afford to do anything so lets spend the money on something else all together.

BTW - Mrs WCA isn't stupid and played me like a pipe last night.

I sold her the idea of travelling down to Italy and driving between Milan and the coast, stopping of in Modena before a week on the shore of Lake Guarda. Perfect in a classic car like the Auburn.

She was sold!

She agreed!

We worked out the route and stuff!

She then refused the Auburn but said the holiday stayed!

I will be in Italy in a rental later this year :-(

Not sure such a vehicle deserves a 2.5litre diesel. Mind you the rust issues on the Navara have brought the prices right down, sold my D40 recently for a pittance.

Oh, I dunno. With a car like the Auburn it's more about the style you travel in rather than the speed.

With what - 150 ish bhp and over 200 lbs-ft turning the wheels it isn't going to disgrace itself in modern traffic. After all, how much power and torque do you need to crawl along at idle in a traffic jam?

It's a Chevrolet Traverse LT. Two tons, AWD, a 280bhp V6 and 6speed auto box. Not heard of them before but they sell about 100,000 a year.
I'd booked one of these on the Enterprise website:

but the nice guys at Arapahoe and 55th didn't have one in their fleet. I explained the Jago Owners Club logo on my rugby shirt and they said they wouldn't tell anyone that I'd driving a Chevy.
