Failed SVA today

Well things didn't go too well for me today.
Failed SVA then as I left the SVA centre the gear shift linkage failed too.

1) Steering Wheel...no centre pad...make sure u go with the rover wheel!
2) Brakes...oh dear...the rear brakes lock before the front brakes...WTF! Has anyone else had this problem???
3) Self centering of the steering was an issue...but I can fix that ok.
4) Brake lights...this is a big issue...they can not be seen from the side of the car...so now I will have to make up a set of 30mm spacers to ensure u could see at least 50% of the glass lens of the rear brake lights...oh dear...
5) ensure u cover all electrical wiring with conduit.
6) Fuel tank seal failed on the day...great!
7) My steering column contacts the brake pedal...just...has anyone else had this iisue???

Other than that there was also the engine mount at the upper offside...it ain't strong enuff no way no how...more on this later...:-(

John.

Nonsense! Everyone fails first time - don't worry about. :eusa_boohoo:

That doesn't sound like too much of a bad result to me - I don't know about the rear brakes locking or the brake pedal rubbing but I'm sure they won't be too hard. All the other stuff you can fix easily.

I don't think the fix to the brake light has to be permanent. Do brake lights need to be visible from the side for an MOT?

sva fail

Don't worry John the majority of kits fail first time, every tester is different and they all have there own interpretation of the rules. I don't understand the rear lights problem though. I had the same problem with steering wheel and just fitted standard Rover one for re-test. How is it possible for the rear brakes to lock out at less pressure than the front with all that weight?. Best of luck with your retest John.

Sorry to hear about this John. Hope all goes well.

Just a quick thought. Can you take the car to get MOT'ed before SVA?

Just thought in might pick little things up like brake's, steering, etc. But by the sounds of it, they test all four wheels on the rollers for the brakes which most mot garages won't have.

Can't remember which pedal I had "adjusted" by Marlin (might have been the brake pedal).

All the best John.
