jay1600e - A very belated welcome to the forum, as I missed your first post.
Your car should look very different when it is all painted that bright red. http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...3&d=1500765129 Good luck, Paul. :) |

I've taken 4" out of the front bumper. And made the grill and bumper on piece. It's a real shame how some of these cars get treated. They seem to be the laughing stock of the kit car world lol. |
Or maybe that they last so long and were well made they take more abuse than other kit cars ??

Great Cars!
I bought mine in '94 for £100, bolted a cut down XR3 spoiler (car boot sale, £5) to the back of the roof, brush painted it matt black (my mates dubbed it 'The Stealth') and replaced the 1300 x-flow with the 1600 from my scrap MkII Escort Ghia. I ran it for five years which included three trips to the 24 Heures du Mans and one to battlefields of the Somme. It never missed a beat.
I sold it for £60 as it had lost first gear and half the stick, over which I'd slipped a length of steel pipe to compensate. The bloke I sold it to brought a 'Nellie Knowall' mate with him to drive it back, it took him six attempts before he managed to pull it away in second! Two weeks later I saw him at the Castle Combe Kit Car Show and he had the gall to complain that the breather was blocked!!! WTF does anyone want for 60 notes? Regards, Mick |
Great to see you're restoring this, and I'll look out for it at Stoneleigh.
I had a Melos in 1982? which I built as my first kit car. Lots of fun, did what it said on the tin for the price. Despite some criticism, Dutton did a lot for the kit car movement. |

Transformed, great job. A bit of kit car history saved.
|
Thank pal. Means a lot spent a lot of hours on the wee car but she's starting to look good.
|
Will you get to Stoneleigh with it?
|
Yeah defo. All the paint work is finished. New trim is in so hopefully she should be there a lot of small jobs still to do but should be ok.

I looked out for you/it at Stoneleigh and one of the other members said you'd been unable to get there. Look forward to next year!
