250 GTO guild

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I'm interested in your recommendations for my build.
I have a 250 GTO body kit that came with a chopped, stretched and mainly space framed Datsun 240Z rolling shell.
The 240Z running gear is being used for my other 240Z resto.
So I'm looking for a suitable complete doner car with a V8 engine that would work to transplant to the 240Z shell.
I'm considering, BMW 540i, Jag XJR, Lexus LS400.
Any thoughts or comments on my ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Sounds like you bought Steve at Rainbows old project ..?
What about a TVR , the wedgey ugly one ... ? Cheap enough and still with a classic feel to it ?

Would love to see your project, especially how the front stretch was done.

Infiniti q45 and chevy 2500 pickup 6.0 (ally block) are popular budget v8's here in the states. There are adapter kits to run all kinds of transmissions with both of these engines too. I don't know if these are options if you are in the UK but that's something to look into.

Yes your right it is the very same one. I've known Steve for years and have followed the progress of this GTO since he started it, he likes his Jags now so this one took a back seat.

The front stretch was done by completely rebuilding the front of the car from the firewall forward, all done in box tubing, lengthened by around 3 1/2" to 4".

American V8 would be nice but not too many around here at a reasonable price.
