Improvements to the picture galleries
 

We've just made live an improvement to the picture galleries which should speed up the loading of thumbnails and stop the problem some of you may have noticed where thumbnails weren't appearing (more so in IE, Firefox was not so bad)

The quality of the thumbnails and intermediate images (the ones you can click on to see the final full size image) have also been improved.

I must admit I'm dead chuffed with this, Conrad has done some excellent work to get this sorted, this will take the galleries to another level.

The galleries are proving extremely popular with thousands of page views each day just to those pages. The popularity caused the problems in that the server couldn't cope at peak times with the amount of processing it had to do.

Now you should see not only better quality pictures but also a speed increase in displaying the gallery thumbnails :whoo:
