and also been looking at the front wheel arch/ running board and not sure about the head light pod looks a bit stuck on so might remove it and fit pod lights?Attachment 5629

The headlights look low compared with the front of the bonnet so a big pair of chrome pod lights would look good.
Curves on that front section look as if they would be an utter pain to make, very well done. |

Thanks yes have been finding it quite hard to do some of the panels but learning all the way. Think I might scrap the wings and fit cycle wings and pod lights?Attachment 5634

I like the full fenders. Would it be possible to cut the pods out and move them up, filling in the sheet metal as it goes?
Remarkable work! |
I prefer the original wings, gives it a more period look but with LARGE chrome pods, Bentley style.
|
Thanks can not make up my mind could take pods right off, lifting them up they might look just stuck on like an oops I forgot the lights. Will have to think on it.
|
You'll get it eventually. Great work so far.

Took a step back to move forwards so to speak, removed the two nose panels I fitted last week had a bump on joint line which was bugging me. But have remade them and the other side as well so good progress and feel they look much better.Attachment 5644

Nicely done!

Keith – I am sure it must be very satisfying to see the bodywork you are creating from scratch come together.
Good luck, Paul. :) |
Thanks Paul yes quite pleased with it so far but wish I had more time to work on it. Have made my mind up on the wings I am going to use the Morgan stile wings, and have decided to change the engine. Always wanted to put in a v8 engine so going to bite the built and fit a Rover 3.5 v8 in.

Thanks but will use the fiberglass ones I have.

Hi been a bit slow over the last few weeks with work and home, but have now finished all the body panels. I have the doors to make yet but they will be left till later after I have removed the engine and mocked up the rover v8. So have removed the body and put it aside for now, so it does feel a big step.Attachment 5697
Attachment 5698 Attachment 5699 Attachment 5700 Attachment 5701 The photos show where I and building the car on the mezzanine floor above my workshop only way up is a ladder at the moment and a friend has a fork lift for heavy bits, but the best place I have to build. |
How about deleting the headlight pods and replacing the headlights with large stand alone lights, but keeping the existing wings as I think they look much better than cycle wings. As per ss100 in the link, maybe just a tad smaller with the headlights!

Thanks will look at the headlights when I put the body back on the chassis.

Have had a bit of time so have mocked up the Rover v8 and box, and dropped the diff frame down by 2" to get the prop shaft below the floor to give a bit moor room for the seats. So all tacked up for now and will get fully welded when I strip and get ready to paint. Attachment 5703

Truly awesome. I love the idea of building on a mezzanine floor, so you can chuck stuff off the edge!
|
Yes nice work space but poor access, but have not got that frustrated yet, to start throwing things over the edge!
