Electronic speedo on type 9 sierra gearbox
 

I need to fit an electronic sensor/sender/pulse generator to the speedo drive on my type 9 5 speed box as I have a TPI-Tech electronic speedo fitted to my Carisma Century. I see Burton do an adaptor but I need an adaptor and a sender and the cost is a bit scary. I can buy the TPI-Tech one which fits ford gearboxes but it is american and may be a different size. That will be $68 plus duty, which is a lot if it doesn't fit. I have heard that I could buy a s/h sender unit from any modern ford and mate it to the Burton adaptor but I'm worried I might damage the speedo. Can anyone advise please?
