We've deliberately not recessed the filler below the body line at all so as not to create a well in which spilt fuel might collect. Still a work in progress but I'm really pleased with the result so far and it keeps the line of the wings clean having the filler here!

Fair dinkum, that's a good bit of modding. Looks fab.

Is the cap meant to the way round, hinge front side? Less drag at light speed and all that.

To be honest we just placed it in to check positioning and it's not fully fitted as yet, the hard part is working out the filler pipe run!

Looking at it now you've highlighted this though, you have a point, although at least this way around the flap will stay open...two schools of thought and a decision that'll be deferred to another day! :icon_smile:

I don't envy you with the filler pipe run. I'd be tempted to drop the tank, and fit a hole on the passenger side (and seal the stock hole). Otherwise, filling the tank is going to be 'click ... click ... click' at the pump.

Trying to avoid that at all costs! Ace reckons his solution works OK having tried it (see his build thread!) and so we've looked at a similar route, plus we have a plan B, both of which appear to give a continuous fall to the BMW filler neck.
Won't know for sure of course until we test it with a fill but taking the tank out and modifying it would be a very big deal!

Yes, already saw that a while back. Even with mine (Kobra) and a 50cm extension/30 degree downward angle, it isn't the best when filling.

Classic Coachworks usually have SWB roll cages powder coated by a local specialist and having had the left hand boot hinge moved over, mine has been similarly treated and now permanently fitted...

You can also see the cut-outs we made for the rear fog & reverse lights. The plan has changed a little here though as these are now going to be two red lights (fog) to more closely resemble the original style reflectors with another cunning plan formulating for a subtle reverse light which will still retain the clean uncluttered lines of the car...

And the windows and door skins had their first trial fit finally today too, all OK and no issues apparent!

Good to see the fuel filler pipe in. From the photo, it looks like it cuts through the boot space. Or is there still more to do?

The roll cage and doors look great. Tidy fit.

Thanks Chris, yes really very pleased with progress! Classic have lots on their plate at the moment but are doing the business for me whilst also allowing me to get stuck in when time allows!

The fuel pipe does indeed enter, or rather exit the boot area, but it’s still a work in progress to make it work whilst still keeping the boot space practical. More will be posted in a couple of weeks on this I’m sure!

Looking good Gary, just goes to show how tricky some aspects of the 250 build are.

I saw yours this week as went for a quick cup of tea at Classic’s unit. Nice work so far :)

Took a look at the ‘275’ while there . That will be an interesting build also.

Agree on the 275 but still prefer the 250 SWB personally!

That custom boot/filler relocation work looks top notch.

Must admit their interior packages and the Grassbank stuff are tempting... my first thoughts before I went for the Kali was restomod style. Having seen that air ride 250 GTO rep and knowing the extra offsets available courtesy of the hub mods. Restomod swb on air....hmmm

The fuel pipe looks very low to me, there is quite an up and down movement on the rear wheel suspension travel.
I made sure that my fuel pipe didn't drop below the line of the inner wheel arch.

Hope it misses the boot hinges!

putting it out there for next time ... if that filler was on the other side of the car would have been much easier? Not period I know but that’s a tricky problem dealt with by compromise.
