PMed - as agreed. Have arranged for Chris to fit it during the build.
Collecting car on 5 July. |
Rubber
So- the inner tubes have arrived and I've ordered the tyres. Thought I'd start with some 195/65 x 15 V-rated Falken AS200 all weather tyres. They are snowflake marked so have a high silica content. With that skinny width on the 5" Jag rim, I'm looking for all the grip I can get.

Progress
Rear light and plate position now fixed

Cleaned and sprayed the wire wheels silver today. Arranged to have the new rim bands, inner tubes and Falken tyres fitted tomorrow morning.

Make sure you stop by my house when you pick it up. It will be good to see the black and white twins

Nearly there on Ian's build. Another headlight to fit and then fettling this and that before a spot of filler here and there, and some white spot primer. See you on Saturday Ian.

Ian came down to collect his Z300S today, he was really pleased with the stage the car was at. We were asked to build to a driving condition that Ian can detail and paint in his own time.

It was great to see Ian's car. It reminds me how much work I have done on mine and how much fun it has been.
So much better than re-laying the patio which is what I was doing today. |

In all its wire-wheeled glory
Dry fit and exhibition revs only.
I fitted the MWS Jaguar wire wheel adapters today and here it is: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6.../DSCF1754b.jpg The adapters fitted perfectly in terms of bolt PCD and diameter. There was <1mm play against the hub centre as well- result. My only reservation is that the holes in the adapters are 45deg countersunk whereas the bolts have a 60deg bevel. The standard bolts clear the curly hubs. I did try my cone washers but that would need the bolt heads to be trimmed slightly. I'm not convinced that the washers are the best solution anyway- anyone know of 45deg chamfered wheel bolts? M12x40mmx1.5mm pitch? http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d6.../DSCF1752a.jpg |
