You could try these as they wouldn't need to be placed quite so precisely as the stud type retainers -

Yes these might do. I want to fit triumph herald hubcaps which are reasonably heavy and so could be shaken loose. I have considered threaded studs that are normally used to retain soft top hoods and tonneau covers but I would need to get the location spot on
|
andremhush these are original GTE wheels so the hub-cap fitting's are standard.
Painted the wheels in traditional hot-rod red today. https://i.imgur.com/GK29739h.jpg Ready to trial fit the 31/10.50/15 rear tyres. https://i.imgur.com/pUK3Kerh.jpg These tyre's are larger than I thought, the coke can on the floor give them some scale!! I might have to have a re-think. :suspicious: |
Methinks 10.5 is a bit wide for your rims which look like 6.5-7.5 .
It would look monster with those on though. It might roll around on the narrow rims. |

Had a little time spare so I fitted the tyres.
https://i.imgur.com/R39078yh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SHF2lmXh.jpg They do need a 20mm spacer to clear the axle tie rods but other than that I like them. :biggrin1: I have ordered a pair of 195x80x15 tyres for the front wheels which should give me the look I'm after. :icon_cool: |
Fair doos they do look a bit lot awesome. 80s on the front should be right. With those tyres who needs springs? Respect!
|
Got the front tyres on.

And I like it too!

Looks just right, congratulations.

My trusty old FORD ANGER pick-up failed the MOT on tyres, hand brake, fog light and number plate light !!!
All now done so a new MOT was issued yesterday afternoon! :eusa_dance: Which means I can relax and slow down on this build! |
And here's me thinking you're building a new pickup because the old one was knackered, true fog and number plate light are very serious never mind now you will have two spare vehicles. A man after my own heart!

Today we collected the material to trim the dash, interior and the seats :lalala:
https://i.imgur.com/83xAhbjh.jpg We also received the shortened prop shaft so I can now think about firing it up and getting it moving under it's own power!! |
Perfect!
|
Perfect. Why can I never find old setees? Are they all being upcycled into Rat Rods?
|
Free cycle in the U.K. has loads of people giving them away. Or just buy the Saturday paper, a large coffee and hang out on the local tip approach road and intercept one on its final journey...!
|
I just seem to have lost the knack of scrounging. Possibly because I have so much 'useful' stuff. I will look out Freecycle. Thanks.

Obviously, I'm a big fan of re-using the leather from old sofas.
And I think that is a great colour for a car interior. |
With a little bit of effort I have managed to fit the original GTE radiator.
https://i.imgur.com/hwert2Gh.jpg Thoes of you who are fimiliar with Scimitar's will notice the front suspension bracing bar has been turned around leaving plenty of room for the grill surround to fit. https://i.imgur.com/Q5NclNih.jpg  |
