Stoneleigh 2018
Had a great day at Stoneleigh last Sunday. The sunburn made a change from the usual frost bite :icon_cool:
There was a huge turnout of cars in the club fields no doubt helped by the fine weather but there were large unfilled areas in the halls which was disappointing. Also, less parts suppliers as more things go on-line. I didn't see anything new or exciting in the halls but spotted a few very nice cars in the fields. This 1958 Fairthorpe caught my eye. A very pretty little car that looked like it had just been completely rebuilt and painted. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/977/4...98a2911f_c.jpgFairthorpe by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/971/4...bef0fac4_c.jpgFairthorpe by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/968/4...b846c7e5_c.jpgFairthorpe by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/962/4...80c77844_c.jpgFairthorpe by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr And parked alongside was this Rochdale Olympic.... https://farm1.staticflickr.com/967/4...7d76fd12_c.jpgOlympic Rochdale by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/823/4...9412d5a4_c.jpgOlympic Rochdale by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr Of course there were lots of beautiful Sabres.... https://farm1.staticflickr.com/977/4...be32f48d_c.jpgRoyale Sabre by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr And this high quality 2CV pick up... https://farm1.staticflickr.com/907/2...ac89858a_c.jpgCitroen pick up by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/981/4...dd99479b_c.jpgCitroen pick up by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr And these rather quirky Liege roadsters... https://farm1.staticflickr.com/971/2...a96128b0_c.jpgLiege Roadster by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr https://farm1.staticflickr.com/943/4...83b76813_c.jpgLiege Roadster by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr Fitted with a three cylinder supercharged engine!! https://farm1.staticflickr.com/977/4...798b7f1b_c.jpgLiege Roadster - Engine by Sabrebuilder, on Flickr Can anybody work out what that engine is? ...peter |
The engine is from a Suzuki. You can see the Suzuki sign on the side of the bonnet. it was an approve fit for the Liege. most of them had a 850cc Reliant engine with a 4 speed box but the Suzuki had 5 gears. it is a very similar set up to the Caterham 160 even with the same live rear axle from Suzuki. Nice pictures by the way!
