Heater Box question
Has anyone fitted the older Rover 200/400 heater box in the 5exi?
I'm not sure it is the same as the newer 200/25 one. I don't fancy stripping the dash out of a car to find out I need the newer one. |
Still trying
Ex Biker,
Will be attempting to fit the 400 heater this week. Will keep you advised. Tomboysexi :doubt: |
pretty sure they're identical, although mines out of a 25, the dash comes out fairly easy though.

I have found that if I want to keep the hydraulic clutch that the 200 or 400 heater box seems to be too big!
I've just spent the weekend fitting a Metro heater box, fabricating a fan box around the original 400 fan and trying to get it all to fit together. Not finished yet, but I'm impressed with it so far. All I have to do then is get the 200 controls to work the Metro heater!!! I do have one thing bothering me. I have made the box for the fan a fair bit smaller than the original. Does anyone know if this will affect the amount of air it kicks out? |
I fitted the old style heater and blower. I found the white mdf piece supplied to join heater and blower together pushed the blower unit outside the side of the car. so i used a piece of ally plate to join them this saved about 6mm. so it will not foul the side panel. if it will help i have pictures.

Yeah, totally agree - using the white plate actually makes the whole thing stick out of the chasis rails...
I did it anyway but will need to cut of (grind off) the bit that is sticking out... Dylan |
It fits
At last, without too much cutting about my 400 heater sits in the chassis.
I am off tp Malta today but on my return I'll take a few photos. Regards to all Exi builders. Tomboys |

I'm guessing you are using an earlier Rover 400 heater assy, not a 400/45 model? Anyway I'm happy, got my Metro heater and fabricated fan box fitted yesterday. Looking good and loads of room for the hydraulic clutch! |
