Front wing inners
have people fitted these?
To the bonnet, to the inner wing? I was wondering because when I started to plan my templates for the wood re-enforcing, based on a subtle modification to Gary's original, I spotted a potential problem. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b.../wheelarch.jpg I don't want to break down and find my whisky bottle has been shattered too. An inner lining might also protect the electrics above and the headlights right in front of the wheel. Anyone had thoughts about this? From the Daily Mail of all places - the only under bonnet shot I can find of a Jag bonnet (e-type) http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/...67_634x481.jpg |
Wow, that e-type underbonnet looks almost as clean as mine!
Not sure where you're going with the whisky bottle, but I have seen one used on a hot-rod as an overflow bottle for the cooling system. |
i can see some overspray!

Back to the point boys - inner wings or not?
And can we stop bashing the kraut for a while. 2 world wars and a load of poorly judged posts, what;s the big deal? ;-) |
sorry, me bad, dark sense of humour :icon_twisted:
Back to the point.... I've not currently got inner front wings on my Spyder and i've driven it out-n-about in all sorts of rain and wet and underneath it's not at all that bad. I have left the engine side shields on from the Vitesse and that keeps the engine generally dry but i do keep toying with the idea of fitting something extra and i have always had two ideas in mind. 1: fabricate something out of very thin marine ply and glass it to the bonnet. 2: Pat came up with the idea of using plastic wheel arches from a trailer and glass/bond them in to the bonnet! But looking at that e-type and seeing where the mud flys under mine, i'd say that the Jag solution of two simple vertical pieces, one either side, may be a much nicer, simpler and ultimate just as effective a solution! |

My reason for fitting inners front and rear is that stones throne up can cause star crazing to unprotected bonnet and wings last thing you need after achieving that perfect paint job....

Tis good stuff, i used it under my bonnet and over painted in black hammerite.
Belt and braces works a treat! |

Not sure if it is any help, but here is a photo from the inside my donor Spitfire's bonnet.
