Good luck with your time plan and look forward to some 'on the road piccies'.

By the way, it was pure genius matching the track and wheelbase of the Lotus 7 replica chassis to the 250TR and bringing this body back to life. Excellent work! My vote is for leaving it in raw aluminum - any car can have paint but only a real alloy body can go bare.

The bare ally look could be cool ... even if you ran with it temporarily ... |
I have thought about making a realistic engine cover to go over the V6. It would be a challenge to make it anything like the Columbo V12 !

Take a look at this video, a stunning car in aluminium, no paint ! |

Another mile stone today, the car now starts and drives !!
I can now refit the front end and get on with the finishing touches. The end of January for completion and MOT looks to be in site ! |
It would be great to see some pics
|
I'll probably start a " Part 2 " thread with the finishing touches through to completion and getting on the road. Lots of photos and a video or two !

Lucky - Congratulations on the engine start.
Good luck for the final push, Paul. :) |
I've seen that first video before, there are a couple of replica's in that collection. I like the second vid with the track action, I haven't seen that one. One thing they all have in common is that they are heavily restored with plush interiors and magnificent paintwork etc. I'd love to see an unrestored example that was just a racing car, having done a couple of 24 hour races. I don't think there are any though and its a shame. I can create that look with my car if it goes to plan.
Listening to those cars I think I have nailed it with the exhaust sound, that's a big plus ! |
That video was the gathering of Testarossas at Pebble Beach in 2014. They are all genuine, although some of them have been rebodied over the years after their original bodies were damaged beyond repair. See: https://www.autoblog.com/2014/08/18/...monterey-2014/
By the way, your Testarossa won’t be the only one moving under Ford power. See: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/th...post-142237510 |
I will put my car on a weigh bridge when I've finished it. With the space frame chassis I believe it will be lighter than an original TR.
|
The original 250TR weighed 800kg (dry) and developed 296hp (gross). See: https://www.carfolio.com/specificati...car/?car=69311
Regarding the space frame chassis, see the photos in post #23 here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/th...ts-own.324847/ |
