DeHavilland V6?
DeHavilland made mention (Facebook in October) of sticking a V6 in their latest demo vehicle. They are running a build log on their Facebook page. As per usual for DeHavilland they are not exactly prolific in their postings so I wondered if anyone here knew about the car? I've contacted them but not heard back yet.
I hope they put in a nice Alfa unit rather than a KV6. I know there has been discussions on this forum and the common thread seems to be the difficulty in squeezing in a V6 and getting acceptable drive shaft angles. |

Hi
I'm guessing it will be the KV6 engine. A guy is building one of their car's in total kit car's mag and that's the route he has taken. There is also a company called Pie Valley doing much the same thing using the mgf/tf subframe and the KV6 engine. ian |
Thanks Ian,
If you're right it's a bit of a shame - everyone knows the issues with the KV6. I'm sure there are good ones out there, but given their age they'll be leggy. I was hoping for a bit of an Italian link with the Alfa engine. Also, if a company wants £40,000 or more for a kit car there needs to be a bit of class attached to the car. I don't think a KV6 that would be at least 10 years old has the heritage to persuade me to cough up the coin. I'm still hoping for a 3.2 Alfa with bulk power! |
