Welcome Michael.

Fantastic work so far, I'm looking forward to watch it progressing. The Saleem is a wonderful car.

What CNC machine do you have? Is it a mill and did you produce the body from foam as a buck?

Steve

Hi!

This is my machine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIVL83AwXrE

First mill styrofoam

then I covered with aluminum foil

http://ss7.hekko.pl/s7/maska/0553.jpg

cover polyester laminate

and mill polyester laminate

I'm building a one-off forms, for lambo, ferrari etc but this other project

Brilliant work!
Where did you get the CAD files from (or shouldn't I ask), or have you got a digitiser too.

Seemann 14th April 2014 05:09

I build 3d model in rhinoceros with madcam, and generate g-code to cnc machine.

Ozzie Dave 14th April 2014 10:15

You couldn't put a Jag XK220 front end on it could you- then it would be perfect!!!
Wonderful work and completely envious of your ability.
I see why its here, its a TRIBUTE to your work!

Dave

Rhino's very clever software. I can't get the hang of nurbs. Did you know that the original Saleen was modelled using Rhino?

Erm, in English please...

Erm, in English please...

It does clever drawing and colouring in stuff but sometimes it is cleverer than the user leading to "Error between keyboard and seat"

Michael uses his brain, eyes and hands to make a computer and a milling machine do what Chris does with his brain, eyes and hands ;-)

It's like RoboChris.

Both are good, but different.

Seemann 14th April 2014 20:56

Thanks for the good words :)

Yes, a know :D
Is a good program and not expensive.

I built a machine to build saleen - to realize my dream:)
It's probably the one replica in the world

Fantastic looking car and the way you have produced the body parts is excellent, well done.

Did you manufacture the CNC router yourself and if you don't mind me asking how much?

I use 3 axis CNC machines on a daily basis, they are XYZ with Prototrax controls with DXF file converter from CAD which compared to G Codes is a doddle, the Protorax controller has to be by far the easiest i have used for complex components.

I look forward to seeing the end result.

Que?

.

Thanks.
For parts to build cnc paid about 8200EUR

I make tail lights housing :) This is prototype

You are very clever, you should be selling exotic body shells and paying some one else to build your one!

obr 19th April 2014 16:30

This is superb.

I'm really envious of Chris' ability to sculp beautiful cars in the flesh, but its nice to see another solution to the problem.

I century visited a company near Southampton who were doing 5 axis machining for me and they had a large scale foam cutting mill which they were using for F1 work, its just amazing seeing this type of kit in action.

Please keep us up to date on your project.
