help cobra virgin

Hi,
can anyone help? I've got an unfinished
cobra project which presently has a modified
scimitar chassis c/w ford 3.0l v6 and g/box.
I want to build/buy a chassis to take a v12 jag
(With IRS/IFS) Does anyone have anything
or any advice, drawings etc.
The scimitar which comes with service history
reg and vin plate is for sale/swap w.h.y. etc.
Please help!

CobraVirgin – Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately, you may be about to open a can of worms, so can I ask some basic questions?

Are you based in the UK?

Do you want to drive the finished V12 Cobra on the road, or is it going to be a trailered track day car?

Are you familiar with either BIVA or the DVLA 8 point rule?

The good news is there is nothing stopping you building a Corba using a custom chassis with a V12 engine.

The bad news is that changes linked to ‘Vehicles of Historic Interest’ give the impression that the Government are now paying much close attention to ‘custom’ cars than they used to.

Good luck, Paul. :)

It would be easiest to go and buy a Dax chassis or similar that is designed to take the V12 Jag engine. Go on to use your existing GRP body and associated parts that may have come with it. You would be in a better position than going with the modded Scimitar chassis with IVA etc.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate any input
but I have two main reasons for not buying an
Off the shelf Dax chassis.

1. The cost.
2. I am an experienced fabricator with a fully
equipped workshop

A plan or drawing utilising jag suspension
componants would be fantastic, or a reasonably
priced unfinished project chassis would solve
my problem.
Cheers,
Keith.
