Taking her to Bug Jam in July (taking a VW badge as tickets cheaper if going in a dub ha) after jam we are driving to Le man and having a few laps of the track then heading down the west coast in her for a week. I like the fact there is more storage space than the original mx5. I am thinking of making a stainless and oak slatted luggage rack simlar to the mgb ones that would sit over the boot lid (hinged luggage rack) so it would stop access to the boot. Any advice on what to tell the AA as i want full euro cover incase of a breakdown in France, would my policy be void if i state it as a mx5 with a body kit?

Cheers

Billy

Wow Billy, not bad for 6 days of spare time! Like what you have done with the headlights, interested to see how much adjusting (if any) they will need for aim.

Reference the wipers, try these Landrover spindle adaptors, they will let you fit the older style chrome wiper arms. You can get them from various suppliers (and ebay), just google it. There are some with grub screws but couldn't get the picture to download, think they would be neater.

Keep up the good work and keep uploading the pictures.

No plans to drive it much then!
We designed the boot extension to take 6x 4 packs of beer cans, try it.
You shouldn't need AA cover it's Japanese not Italian

http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/...n/DSC01697.jpg The side lights fitted in the head lights and working a treat. Original wires reach with ease so saved some time there.

http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/...n/DSC01703.jpg the front wing section married to the body spot on! Make sure to grind the paint off the mx5 wing where bonding to avoid cracking.

Back lights on and off you go! Any luck with wheels yet?

williammcloughlin 10th June 2012 16:43

http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/...esCA3DQASB.jpg Chris could you please start doing these for your next project! Thanks in advance!! ha

williammcloughlin 10th June 2012 17:02

Well Chris with regard to wheels its a tough one as it depends on a few things. I am seriously thinking about doing a couple of kits one in white (for weddings etc) and a ferrari red one and hiring them out. When i had the horse box business i used to rent my demo 3.5t master conversion and a early bay window camper. It was a nice second income and simple to run, I always wanted to have a couple of classics to hire out but never did due to cost and the fact it made me cringe at the thought of hiring a total stranger a old classic! The Tribute mx250 is ideal as it has all the looks and style of a sixties super car yet reliable and affordable to repair and keep on the road & much much cheaper to sort insurance! I have had a quick look on google and there are a couple of people hiring classics in Yorkshire but they are miles away from me and seem expensive to me, 210 pounds a day to hire a Morris Minor convertable? So i dont know really yet what to do. I keep looking at the car and the wheelbase and think a DB5 inspired kit would be awesome! Dust off the drawing board!!

Ah, the Cheetah. I have actually been thinking of a Kellison kind of look for the Lotus project thats outside the workshop:

There are some similar lines to the 250. Loving the black steel wheels with spinners on this car, would work on the MX250 and be a cheaper option. I will try and get it finished by the time you are back from Le Man (joking by the way:becky:).

Billy, try and keep up, I have posted a new grill design on the forum this afternoon! Have a look.

williammcloughlin 10th June 2012 17:22

Ha, Yes that sort of look, the mx5 could pull it off. I will be geting some steelies banded if i go down the hire route as would not want expensive wire wheels getting kerbed. I have some spinners in the shed somewhere! think iwill be digging them out tonight.

williammcloughlin 10th June 2012 19:45

Changed a few things around so i can get to Newark show. Now do i go nuts and get the car there!! Wont have wheels but what the hell!

williammcloughlin 10th June 2012 19:49

Going to be a busy week as auctioneering at silverstone on Thur/Fri for Day of Champions for the Moto GP......that gives me tom and tue and wens am on the car!

Tribute Automotive 10th June 2012 20:37

Chop Chop

All those days to just put the back lights on? :becky:

We had only just stripped our Mk2 down on Friday, ready for a Monday start, to get the car done to drive to Newark on Friday afternoon. Race you there!

Seriously, it would be utterly brilliant if you could be there and park next to the Mk2 outside. TRIBUTE CLUB AREA already! Drinks on me.

williammcloughlin 10th June 2012 21:21

It's a deal, The car will be there Sat am! Where can i order a rear window? It will be on standard wheels but it will still give those interested the general idea.

Tribute Automotive 10th June 2012 21:36

Rear window

Try this ebay listing: 280820196491

I am picking up 10 this week but not sure what day yet. If I can get one sent up to you I will. If you don't have any luck just screw a sheet of perspex over the hole and I will bring one to Newark.

Nick
