Also (me Yet Agn) Yes( I Just Forked Out For A Load Of These Plastic Nut Head Covers).. Dont Forget To Use Nylock Types As And When ... So Many Times In Kits I've Come Accross The Nuts Are Plain When Clearly Nylock With Split Washers Shd Have Been Used , Or There S Insufficient Or Too Much Unused Thread Protrudeing .. You Know .. Don't You ? It's Plain Engineerring Sense. However I Doo Feel This Radii Thing Is Fairly Reasonable .. But Shd A Bolt .. Hello to all,
I’m completely new to kit car building and I’m in the process
of SVA for an Indy.
As far as the VIN (in northern Ireland) is concerned the SVA Centre issues the Number. The vehicle goes to SVA without a VIN.

Alvin, Please don't capitalise every word in your posts or use all capitals as that means you are shouting and just makes your post unreadable so people will not actually read what you said!

Starting each sentence or paragraph is fine but not every word! Also no text typing ! Full words are better.Thanking you in advance a mad old bugger(who is also a teacher):biggrin1:

Problems, maybe?

Getting the urge to build another kit :biggrin1: and looking at what about and noticed some unfinished near new kits on offer such as a brand new 1989 Rickman Ranger which was virtually untouched and an 86 Ginetta G31 which had had little done to it (both just rolling shells)and wondered as these were both pre SVA and therefore pre IVA would there be any major problems with such a project with regards to the dreaded radius etc as I really like/understand Cortinas and Escorts and my first build was in fact an 88 Ranger kit?:icon_wink:

I know that cars registered before 1965 do not have to have seat belts fitted but if I convert my post 1965 donor from 4 seats to 2 do I still have to have seat belt fittings in the empty space?
Also, I saw somewhere that donor cars over 30 years old (1985?) do not have to have an SVA. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, if I fit Polycarbonate (bulletproof) windows, do I have to get them E marked and if so, how?

IVA approval download

I don't know if this is the latest - dated April 2009.

Seat belts and old donors

I have had a reply from DVLA and they say that
(a) if the rear pair of seats are removed then the seat belt mounting points must be permanently disabled, e.g. by welding over
(b) older donors still have to undergo the SVA/IVA

Hello, first message from me here. I'm having alot of difficulty finding any information about new build cars from donor or modified parts. I'd like to build a car that's either a single seater, 2-seater inline, or maybe just modify the whole body of an olderTigra. This is because i haven't seen any small engine 1 or 2-seat vehicles except a tigra. A soft-top is not desirable or practical. I can't find whether the UK vehicle test for 8 points can be met by a "new" vehicle, as all parts may be altered. Any help appreciated, thanks.

275gtb look alike

Hi Dai,
Welcome to the forum.
I hope you have success finding your car. I have been building my own design of an f 275GTB lookalike based on a BMW Z3 for some time but have been brought to a halt (hopefully temporarily) by a stroke. If you want to see how far I have got and you live not too far from Derby then please give me a call on 07970 994 613 or look at my thread on this forum.
George

Too far.

I live in Wales. Hopefully someone who's gone through this nightmare will still be alive to help :)
