Dashboard Gauges
Starting to think about the dashboard for my Sammio and hankering after a nice new set of gauges.
Just wondering whether anyone has experience of https://www.egauges.co.uk/ who offer a 6 guage kit for £139.95. First impression is that I would have very little to lose on a set of these. But then a GPS Speedometer appeals and that adds a further £130 to the package! Also found someone on Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-Gauge-s...53.m1438.l2649 who offers a set including the GPS Speedometer for around £150. |
I've seen those gauges on ebay. For a complete set they are very cheap, made in China etc etc. For the same money you should be able to find some used Smiths gauges that still look like new and will have a quality feel and look because they are the real deal. You can buy the matching senders etc. Only problem might be a correctly calibrated speedo for a new build and IVA but your car is exempt from all that.

Egauges look interesting ...local to me too .. |
For what it's worth I would find second hand Smith gauges which have an already patina look but I suppose it depends on what you want the overall look to be, I went down the second road apart from the rev counter which was bought new due to none coming available on the second hand market.

75mm speedo and tacho would be a bit small for a Sammio imho. They'd look right in a Seven/Locost, but you need at least 100mm/4" for the right look on one of these.
The original Sammio demonstrator used a large, white faced Herald speedo (5"?) offset to the left and below the steering column, with smaller smiths gauges dotted elsewhere and it looked terrific. It's a shame E gauges doesn't make larger/custom gauges as they do look to be good value. |
