Have you checked out the new AC Cobra Mk. V1 GTSR 2014 model?
It has a few modern touches to it. Big front spoiler, hood scoop, led tail lights and a Ferrari Style rear diffuser and a 300K price tag ! Maybe some ideas from this could appear on the Tribute Kobra if people liked them. Although many will still prefer the original style. http://oi40.tinypic.com/qx6hvn.jpg |

Yes, a lot of nice ideas. Would hope to stay away from the 300K price tag though
|
It is a bit like what Donkvoort have done with the Lotus 7
|
Can't wait to see a finished example!
Looks of a cobra with everyday drivability, sounds like a winner to me! More pics please |
If Tribute can replicate this....

If many of you like the the AC Cobra Mk. V1 GTSR then check out this hi- tech modern version of another Cobra called the Iconic AC roadster.
http://oi43.tinypic.com/2j5f13t.jpg Some might not be too keen on the lights but it really looks a mean machine. Now, if Tribute can create a mix of the GTSR and the Iconic Roadster I´m sure the will have a winner in their hands. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYc53lK3_OE |

It isn't that different from Chris' rendering, faired in at the front and wider arches are the main changes. It wouldn't take a huge amount of work. Take a Z3M with its 330 bhp as a base and you would have the performance to match the looks. Tempting, must finish my mx250 though. |

It was always our intention to go with more "modern" styling features on the Kobra (German for Cobra BTW), I have always liked the BACKDRAFT COBRA, blacked out chrome, black alloys with low profiles, LED versions of traditional lights etc. I really like the GTSR. We have the original Z3 front bumper/spoiler that Geoff has kindly donated from his SWB project, that has a good lower lip as a starting point. We also have moulds for an E Type Jag bumper that are similar to the splitters in the front air intakes. The rear spoiler looks very much like an MX5 one, have a couple of those. And this looks good for the diffuser: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-FIEST...item3a5e4ae8c1 Game on! |
When do you want a deposit chris!
the new fiat 500 has the round version LED headlights i think, with them being fiat may be cheap enough. |

I thought I was almost finished building cars, I'm now on to campervans stop with the temptation, I want one. (AC cobra style front hard top fast back ona Z3)
|
Having a read back to the start I see somebody has asked aboot removing the BMW windshield already, surely this is the way to go with this one,eh? I don't think the tall glass works well with this 1950/60's style. Although, with the depht of snow here in Canada maybe a good windshield, wipers, electric roof and AC would be a good idea? How cold is it in England?
|
I feel the best part of the tribute kits are so they are a simple 'bolt on' kit that the everyday joe bloggs can build and still retain the practicallity of a daily use car. start choping windcreans and that just puts it with all the other 'sunday driver' kit cars.
I want to be able to use the car any time i want, wind, rain, snow and then just pop the roof down on a sunny day! |
Chris, do it. I too would buy the kit .

Cheap donor...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-BMW-Z...item338978b8d1 I personally wouldnt go for a CAT C but its cheap enough |
