Power steering

Anyone had experience of steering on powered and non-powered cars?

And is the Corsa column the only one tried up to now?

Coming to the conclusion that my steering is just a bit too heavy around town and for flicking side to side rapidly.

Ken,
Chris is putting power steering into his car now too, he's using a fiesta column though, this is mainly due to it making the electrical side of things a bit easier with his existing ford bits. hes got the column in, just sorting the control side of it now.
Does mean he's got a corsa column etc.. he's selling though.

Seems there have been a few electric power steering installs now.
So which is the best column to go for?
Corsa is the most popular but is this just because they were one of the first so there are lots of them in the scrap yards?
Loads of others about now but is there any feedback about how the various different systems perform or feel out on the road?

I beleive the only assisted phantoms are mine, Richs old car and now Chris', which isn't yet working under assistance.
Rich and I both went for the Corsa column, because we knew it was possible to make work, loads of rally guys use them, so there's an extensive knowledge base out there.
There are loads of other EPAS columns around, but the problem is a lot are can bus controlled, and so it becomes a bit tricky to make them work.
The corsa column IMO is still a bit on the light side, however this can probably be corrected with suspension geometry.
Best bet is for you to have a drive of one of the cars at Stoneleigh Ken, Rich's old car will be there.

Ken et al, I'm looking at making the CAN conversion circuitry for the Fiesta steering - come and see me at Stoneleigh and we can have a chat.
