Summer meet, BBQ

Hi guys
Any body know anything about a summer get together this year?
Dan, Chris your place?
WCA got any ideas?

Jason

I was just looking at my calendar as MrsWCA has told me that we need a holiday and if I assume that is 10 days then I do not have a spare weekend before my next ankle operation at the start of September.

I am sure Ian or someone will stepo up to the mark in my absense

Let's all just turn up at Paul L's house and blitz many jobs on his car, I'm sure he would fire the BBQ up? Even though his is not a tribute, when's the new front end arriving WCA? Ed

Paul L 13th June 2015 04:52

Ed - I'd rather visit Tribute and actually see some complete cars on the road. :icon_wink:

Ah but Paul without even knowing you where drawn to go out and purchase a new BBQ with a larger cooking surface? It must be fate, and you have been considering a gazebo for some time now. Ha ha Ed.

Marks stepped up to while you wait.

I will be slinging a barbecue and charcoal in the back of the Jago and heading down to Castle Combe on Saturday.

If you care to make yourself known to me- I will fire it up. I'll also bring the means to heat water.

Like they say- bring the tourists and the amenities will follow.

I would love to host another BBQ, but I am sure that anyone who has visited the workshop lately will confirm that we have zero space left. I will see if I can find another local venue.

Any idea of numbers? 9 cars 2 years ago was a good result.....

Workload is preventing a visit to Castle Combe. Would like to hear feedback from anyone who goes.

Chris , if I'm free (in the country) I will be there , I'm pretty sure we can beat 9 cars too .

I've 'borrowed' this place a few times. Near Ringwood in the New Forest so not that far from Chris's workshop - possible pre-BBQ meet there and drive to here?

Nice gravel drive bit for photo shoot of you can't make it onto the lawns

Full BBQ facilities in place.

Let me know if you are interested in using the place and I will see what I can do

Went to the show yesterday at Castle Combe.

Pat and I had a fun 2 laps of the circuit in his Z300S Barchetta, followed by a nice burger and beer lunch. One other Z300S there- the Nubodi blue "Maserati".

The "Classic car" part of the show involved lots of Minis and Escorts. The "Kit Car" aspect was well covered, just not many examples of anything really. The track action was good and the drift cars were mental.

Overall- a great day out.

Nice looking place, depending on dates I reckon I could come along to this

As you can see still no paint, I like driving it to much, "Ian thank you for lunch" peppered steak with onions in a bap and a cold one, a really pleasant day and great company. To late for this year but a good venue for next if it's on, not to far for Chris and Dan plus a bit closer for thems from "up't'north".

WorldClassAccident 22nd June 2015 08:23

"drift cars were mental"

So are their tyre bills. I went to an 'unofficial' event at an airfield and this was the result for one bloke after about 20 minutes. New tyres when he started

and a long drive home on various different sized space savers borrowed from other drivers

The guys at Castle Combe were expecting to wear out a set of tyres during each session- one in the morning, one in the afternoon !!!

obr 22nd June 2015 18:13

I couldn't believe how much damage they did to their cars!

IanA 22nd June 2015 19:42

I saw the wrecker truck go out but not what they brought back.
Our laps of the circuit were a bit more sedate!

obr 22nd June 2015 20:23

It seemed like each lap they had another part hanging off, not sure if they hit each other or the barriers!

I saw the tribute cars lining up, was a shame to only have the two cars in the display area but the show wasn't that well publicised. I really enjoyed it and the mix of cars, sure it'll be popular next year and hopefully loads of Tribute cars!
