Flush door handles / remote solenoids
 

Has anyone fitted flush door handles and remote solenoids? I build a 360 replica a few years back and the 1st set of solenoids I used burnt out after a week, they where just a kit off ebay. I then used ford transit van opening solenoids off a button on the car. they where ideal but im after a remote set.

Can anyone recomend a good remote set that can open 2 doors and a boot lid from the remote?

Hi Danny I would stick with factory items like the ford ones you mentioned and try something like this to power them. Search #QZO 4 channel remote on eBay. I have just ordered a similar one to control the outside/inside lights and make the TV and vodka optic rise out of the cabinet in the camper I am restoring. You can get momentory and latch on functions for closing windows or electric soft tops etc. I like you used some cheapo solenoids on my jeep and they where dissapointing to say the least.

A friend has had these on his Scimitar for well over a year - and it's his daily drive, so operated at least 4 times a day, 6 days a week?

That's the remote that I have ordered it should be OK to wire up to your release solenoids. I wired a similar remote but only a single channel one to a release motor on the spare wheel carrier on my jeep so I pressed the button and the wheel carrier released saved messing with the latch each time to get to the tailgate handle. Also it made the expensive 35" spare tyre a little harder to steal. I order lots of silly things like that from China usually the quality is fine and the prices very cheap, takes a bit of research but that's part of the fun for me.That and checking the post each day like a child for a month some stuff takes 8 days and some 8 weeks. Have you thought about using a similar cheapo remote to just kill the power to the door lock/ pop release circuit then hard wire a button to the wing mirror or similar to pop the door. May be more simple.or simpler still if you put the button in the boot or petrol flap if your having one, use the BMW remote to open the boot then press a button for each door pop.

Or ebay 141394125005 two of these the drivers one wired to the lock feed from the BMW remote and the passenger one to a button in the cab.plus 2 of these 220877453605 .should be possible to attach the solenoid to the door latch pull or mechanism.
