No worries Chris,

I went to a Longlife dealer in Basingstoke and was happy with their service. Again if I did it again I’d help design the layout but we all learn each time we do something.

Closest to you there is one in Westbury or Thornberry.

Think it looks even better raised, more in tune with the 289 style

Thanks Gents.

I only seem to drive between two locations so don’t have much in the way of an on the road diary

So what’s the interior like ?

I am very very impressed by those who have changed the interiors of their builds. I don’t have the space, skills, tools, nerve and patience.

So mine is pretty stock with the exception of a Momo steering wheel and gear knob (in red).

I still have some mgf seats to fit but not got around to that yet. Am rather enjoying driving the thing to be honest.

Also you will see that I went easy peasy filler for the fuel. This was agreed as part of my special build with Chris and he glassed in one I sent over. I like the simple styling and it was easiest route of course.

It is certainly the right time of year to be driving the car.

Your interior matches the car; modern, understated, chic. The paint job is first class, and the extra arch gap has improved the look quite dramatically.

What colour MGF seats to you have ready to go in? Black or red?

Customising the interior, specifically the dash, is quite a job. I have spent the last 3 weeks with a multimeter and soldering iron. With quite a bit of trial and error. But it is rewarding. At the end of the day ... there is no rule book, its down to personal preference.

Thanks for the encouraging words as ever. Understated is sort of what I went with in the end. Original plans was for a metallic purple custom thing. How things change when everybody around you says that’s a bad idea. Now if I made another well .......

The seats are plain black mgtf. I saw some red and black which might have looked good but the CIC rightly said if the shade of red is wrong it will annoy me. She was as right as ever !

New dash in the Kobra

4 Attachment(s)
I wanted a new dash for the Kobra so went to ClassicCoachWorks who have recently developed one. It is on their website if you need details on cocts etc. I bought ETB instruments to go in the dash as they work well but just need a bit of wiring up at the appropriate sensors or OEM loom.

I covered it in vinyl rather than pay a professional as I like the learning curve in all of this work. Can say I did it too - whether it be v average quality or not.

Some pics attached to show layout etc.

Just checking in here for the first time in ages!

Hope everyone is well.

Latest on my kobra is that still have it but don't drive it enough. Have moved to Dorset during 2023 so need to get around the purbecks in the open air this year.

Nice move, Dave.
Don't forget that there's a car show on The Esplanade at Weymouth every Thursday evening from April to September.
