Great to see different ideas and inspiration.

Couerdelion – Your seats look good, as does your “current inspiration” colour choice.
I take it you’ve seen ericholm’s recent photo shoot of old vs. new? https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4252/3...c8879d7d_c.jpg Good luck, Paul. :) |
I love the headlight covers on that example ..

Hoping now I get my kit and finish it before someone else goes that way! |

This is from Richard at Nubodi as an idea of what can be achieved on the dash swap. When I was originally looking at black for the car it was the way I was going to go - body coloured top, grey front. Now thinking I might end up all black inside... I really wish I could just decide and stick to it! |
Quick Question
I've changed steering wheels and will be changing dash so wont have an airbag warning. Is there a problem then with removing the airbag module? |
Search on this site for airbag removal. I thing WCA did a thread second half of last year.

Make sure you disconnect the battery and leave for 5 unites before unplugging the air bag.
When you remove the steering wheel you will see the "clock spring", this allows the cables to rotate when the steering wheel is turned. Do not unplug at the clock spring but follow the wires into the steering column and unplug them here. I'm in the process of swapping the steering wheel. I used the same boss as Casamolino but the clock spring won't fit on it no matter how much I butcher the boss. It's on for now but not happy with it. Has anyone fitted a boss that takes the clock spring? |
Hi,
It was a while ago but I think i used this one, and moved the slip ring over from the BMW steering wheel to the rear of the boss so that the horn worked. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OMP-STEERI...QAAOSwPh5ZOBdc I paid £70.33 when I bought it. Mine is a April 2002 3.0i MSport. The older cars have a different sterring wheel airbag setup and mount from what I remember so couldn't use WCA's guide as my car setup was different, however there was a great guide for newer Z3's on one of the Z3 forum sites that I used, don't ask me to find it, as I say it was a while ago. I also bought a cheep airbag reset light device that plugs into a round socket in the engine bay, this was a well worth purchase to confirm that all the circuits were cleared and clear of any fault code. Good luck! |
Thanks Andy, did the clock spring fit onto the boss so the horn and self cancelling indicators still work?
Mine is the facelift (2000) so should be the same as yours. |

Kit has arrived!
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4309/...64e27fb9_b.jpgIMAG0803 by couerdelion2013, on Flickr Was fun when the lorry arrived and asked if I had a forklift as it had been loaded on the side and would need a forklift to get it off. Luckily being in an industrial estate has its advantages... Asked one of the lads who work for the landlord to do me a favour and then bunged him a €10 to say thanks. Had to then unload the palletes to fit into the unit. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4303/...205dfca5_b.jpgIMAG0806 by couerdelion2013, on Flickr It's given me a little bit more zest to get the job done now. I lost a bit of desire after the disappointment with not getting the dials I had ordered from Nubodi. They weren't of sufficient quality so Nubodi sent them back and refunded me. I actually ended up losing money on the whole thing with exchange rates dropping significantly in between ordering and refund. Not anyone's fault really but not a great feeling. I'm now left with a dilema about what to do with the interior. It was the promise of step-by-step instructions to fit dials that convinced me to order in the first place and had me charge fully into stripping the interior. Now I feel I'm left high and dry trying to bodge something without any real clue what I am doing. C'est la vie... |
What, the pound went up against the Euro?
Could have fooled me when I got my holiday money this week. I expect it to be finished by the time I get back! |
Good luck, it all looks so simple, stacked against the wall.
|
Are you going for the standard rear window, Jeffs modified window or the proper 250 perspex rear window?
Decisions, decisions! |
