Ball joints

Evening guys. Well this thing might actually be finished soon!! Main big jobs lest are, calibrate Dash2, torque up bolts, fit bodywork, and then hopefully all is go!! Even tentatively looking at requesting an IVA date!!!! :fear: Just a query on the ball joints, which I believe may well be Metro ones? Have tightened the bolts on them (obviously), but struggling to get them properly tight. Can't see to feel a 'flat' anywhere on the ball join to allow it to be held and therefore stopped from rotating when you tighten the nut. Probably missing something very obvious, but if you guys know the secret, please could you pass it on :gossip:, it's the only bolt we seem to be struggling to torque up at the mo!! I'm sure the next update will be filled with tales of 'Well that didn't quite work out as planned' But let's hope not!!
Photos will follow soon on my Flikr account, I promise!!!
Thanks in advance

Rob

You need to get the taper to grip in the hole before you get to the locking nylon part of the nylock. Just put about 5 or 6 washers between the nut and the wishbone and tighten it up enough for the taper to grip. Then back of the nut, remove the washers and you should be able to tighten the nylock without the taper rotating.
Or, if it's the lower wishbone just put a jack under the ball joint to put a bit of pressure on the taper.
