wheel customising

I am intending to use the BBS cross spoke wheels. I have the centre caps which cover the wheel nuts and the BMW logos on them are really weathered. I have removed one of them (they are a sort of vinyl disc which is stuck in place) and I was thinking that it would be great to replace them with something custom made. Has anyone done this or have any ideas about how one might get a design on a suitable medium to stick into the centre cap? Thanks - John

John,
Try ebay, lots on there.

Hi Dennis,
yes I saw lots of the original BMW ones but I didnt explain very well, I was thinking that it might be a nice touch to have a custom design to put in there, and maybe on the steering boss too. Like the Marlin logo for example. So, I was wondering how to achieve it.... John

Hi John,
the MOC do some 42mm wheel centres with the Marlin logo.
I've not seen them and they only cost 50p a pair , so no idea what they are made from? (Oh, and it's plus £1 postage!)

It would be great to get some nicer Stainless/ali versions?
Maybe Jason will come up with some ideas??

Now that is a great idea Peter. I am thinking of enamel on some sort of backing now....

These guys might be able to do something?

http://www.edecals.com/custom_decal_..._designer.html

They do Brushed ali or chrome mirror finish backgrounds.

....but International shipping is $24

GreatOldOne 31st March 2012 17:46

Hey - that s not a problem. Just order 'em next time you're over there on business. Or failing that, have them delivered to the office out there and get them to transship ;)

I could collect them from USA and they look good but I have in mind a motif - coat of arms like...naff I know but hey I am old enough not to care!!!

Hi Badgeman
This link does not let non members in?

You can attach a photo here by clicking the postcard icon with a mountain range and a stamp above, and then copy and paste the URL of the photo that you want from the Volvo site. Go to the photo, Right click over it - select Copy URL location. Then paste into the drop down box which opens after clicking the postcard icon above.

Regards
Mike

Sorry everyone, I'm having to take a cocktail of drugs at the moment for a torn muscle and swollen disks in my back. It would seem that these have turned me into a complete moron :dizzy:

There are a few pictures on my first post here: http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...ead.php?t=3816

Hopefully you will be able to see these :eusa_shifty:

Hi Badgeman
These look good. I suspect there might be some interest for a Marlin badge, and maybe others too?
The Marlin logo seems to be a special font, or even its own graphic? - I have no graphics/software knowledge. I will try to find the digital version I have of it, and forward to you.
Can you pass your email address - you cam PM it to me if you do not want it on this forum - or may be you do for more enquiries!
Mike

Thanks Mike,

Last question, how big are the wheel centers? or hob does the badge need to be?

Hi Kerry

This may differ between cars, but for my BK Racing alloys the centre is 62mm dia., and domed.

There are a couple of ways these can be done.
If you want to maintain the outline of the marlin, i would have to send these to be printed as my machine will not produce such fine lines.
Or the cheaper option would be to have the marlin as a solid object like the one below. I only used chrome because it was already in the plotter.
These can of course be in any colour you want.
