Shes Alive !!!
Well big progress today, got the engine started :D bit rately with the tappets but being hydraulic these should sort themselves out with a bit of running i hope.
Now just to rewire for all the lighting, cooling fans, and finally the air con. Did you test that switch ken? just wondering which side is high or low pressure. |
:bounce: nice :D tappets should be fine after a longer drive to get the oil pressure up - my old compact needed that after a head gasket replacment.

Nice one Ed !
No I havn't found out about the air con yet, Norman said he would try and get a wiring diagram sorted either from the electrician or the air-con supplier. |
Eddy, Glad to hear you're past the big hurdle! I had to have a couple of my tappets cleaned with a special tool to stop the clatter.
Sorry guys for not contributing to this forum, I completely forgot that this was the place to be D'oh. I was going to Stoneleigh but as there was no talk on Pistonheads and no emails I did some Gardening! I'm in France at present but will start to read the posts and help if poss. Regards Nick |
was it major work to clean them nick? cams out job to get to them? im hoping some running, a few oil changes, and maybe some of that wynns special cleaner for them will sort it, the oil i took out the engine when i got it was very dirty and it has been standing since 1999 so that probably hasnt helped things.

Didn't take too long as someone else did it for me, no cams out but you do need a special tool.
They still took a little while to settle down though, I don't think it helps that I use Mobil 1. I reckon it's too thin for the Honda Engine and I should have stuck with Semi-Synth. Nick |
Chris mentioned to me that he had the ones in my car ultrasonically cleaned at some point..
Glad you made it here Nick! Rich |
