Scimitar suspension Bushings - what where?

I have a load of bushings and am trying to work out what goes where. I think I have the rear end sorted out (1st picture)

what I have left over is in this picture
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z...2015.49.16.jpg

The bits with bolts and the red bits for the shockers seem to make sense but the blue bushings are puzzling me.

The metal tubes don't fit into them like the tubes do for all the other bits. Are they the wrong bits or do I just need to use the persuading stick?

Which bushings have the tubes and which don't?

Any help or advice very welcome?

Where'd you get them from?

My set from Canleys came in little self-sealing bags with clear labels telling you what's what.

Mind you, mine were for the Vitesse.

Nick

We have just done the front suspension rebuild replacing all the bushes, I will post some comments later on the methods
we used.

Top bushings went in with hot water, grease, mighty thumbs and a satisfying pop. So far so good.

The lower wishbone bushes do not want to play at all.

They are different sizes at each end of the wishbone. This bigger hole looks the same size as the top wishbone holes but the bushing will not go in. If I squeeze it in a vice the bushing just gets shorter and fatter and then pings across the garage.

Please tell me the trick Charman.tech

I am off for a beer and a sulk while my thumbs recover.

Gone back down the garage with a beer and sworn loudly but that hasn't worked.

The holes appear to be slightly oval (or maybe it is the beer) but could they have stretched/ovalised over time?

Nick

I think the holes do go oval with wear.

Our method was first to clean out the holes wire brush on drill, whilst letting the bushes soak in very hot water.

liberal amounts of "squeaky" applied, first we put the metal inserts into the bush, but not more than half way, then we select a range of sockets

1. one socket sized so it pushed on the bush and not the metal insert

2. one socket so it pushed on the metal insert and not the bush

3. one socket the diameter of the hole on the wish bone so it let the bush come thru.

Insert wish bone into bench vice (big) placing socket 3 at the back (in the vice) and by alternating sockets 1 & 2 on the front face (in the vice) start to press them home repositioning the whole shooting match as you go.

You need a second hand with this it is almost impossible to do single handed.

Quite hard to explain but hope that helps.

You have already put into action the final plan, give up and drink bear and come back to it later.

Thanks, that does make sense.

I will have a fun/frustrating Saturday I guess

Cheers
