Stoneleigh Kitcar show 2008
I'm planning ahead........but will be at the show this year, and I'm flying in Birmingham, can you guys reccomend a good inexpensive place to stay ? hotel or bed & breakfast ? any ideas.
Thanks for your help, and looking forward to meeting you guys in person.... Italo |
Your best bet is probably the local tourist information - it's a good source in the UK
I am not sure if this is the closest to Stonleigh but you could start here http://www.birminghamuk.com/touristinfo.htm Cheers Robin |
Can't recommend a particular place to stay but if you don't mind going with a branded chain then Premier Inn is normally pretty good
http://www.premierinn.com/pti/home.do The only thing to watch out for is how close it is to a main road (can be quite noisy if right next to a motorway) but the website normally states this. Normally had a pleasant stay with them. John |
Thanks for your info guys, will look trough the links for accomodations.
Cheers Italo |
Almost forgot....one year me and the missus stayed in a B&B in Warwick which isn't too far away from the show plus it's quite a nice historic town with it's own castle if you're into that sort of thing.
Can't remember the name of it unfortunately but there are plenty of B&B's in Warwick if you do a google. Cheers, John |
With any luck I'll have all the parts I need to drive the Sportster again by the 4th May! :D

Looking forward to seeing your Sportster in Stoneleigh... Cheers Italo |
There are two options on site.....there is the Stoneleigh Park lodge
http://www.stoneleighparklodge.com/ Currently fully booked for the Saturday but may be worth contacting. There is also another 'hostel' type accommodation on site, which I used in the Dart days and was really cheap (think about £20/night). Bit basic - share facilities, etc - but on site so you can join us for a beer! http://www.stoneleighparklodge.com/b...lage/index.asp |

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.......
Beer. |
Hoping to go this year but not sure yet as it always falls on our wedding anniversary so can't always get a pass :eusa_boohoo: plus our dog sitters (in-laws) will not be available either.
Three options open to me, take the whole family plus dog for the weekend or go on my own and be in the dog house. Or don't go :noidea: What's camping up there like? Anyone done the whole camping weekend thing before? John |

As ever depends on the weather....! |
Someone call? LOL!!
I love camping at Stoneleigh. First started camping back in the mid-80s, we used to camp where the Caterhams are these days. Even took Tom and camped when he was 7 months old...he's 19 now. Provided you've got other people camping it's great I reckon. Hope you do go, John, be great to meet you. |
Right, the idea has been put forward and so far no outright 'no' has been forthcoming, even the suggestion of buying a tent was made by the missus.
Now I know nowt about tents but what I do know is that '4 berth' generally means 2 max and as I would want a bit of room to move around I was thinking of something like this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ksid=p3907.m29 Seems like it would be big enough but would it last more that one outing? Seems a good price at £85 but if this is successful then it might get used more than once. Anyone got any tips on tent buying (bearing in mind that I don't want to go full out tentophiling, may get used just the once) Cheers, John |
Yeah, looks alright.
If you aren't the camping type it helps to have somewhere tall enough to stand up in to get dressed etc, rather than struggle!! About 4 years ago my son and I took a two-man hiking tent to Stoneleigh. He's about 6'1" and I'm about 6'. It was hideously cold, but we were OK due to the lack of cold air in the tiny tent, but getting up was a nightmare...LOL!! |
You could always sneak into a tent of one of the camping stalls at the show.....just make sure you get up early!

Will you be hiring a car or relying on public transport? That could change where to stay. There's a few nice B&Bs in Kenilworth which is only about 5 miles from the show ground. Also the Chesford Grange hotel isnt far away, but might be a bit pricey for you. |
Can't believe I was entertaining the idea of staying in a tent...must have been halucinating of something (have been a bit under the weather  )
:typing: searching for 5 star hotels in Wawickshire area :drama: John |
