Another Dna customer build

http://www.dnaoc.co.uk/index.php/top...cseen.html#new

One of Dna’s customer had commissioned Dna to do a private build
He’s posted a couple of teaser photos
I won’t say what it is or what Car it’s based on until the customer gives permission

Mitchelkitman 2nd December 2017 18:15

Why not - it's in the linked page!

tricky360 2nd December 2017 20:43

ITs not the Boxster speedster
It’s a commissioned build

I've seen the mock up picture, looks stunning. Hope the build gets posted up on here.
It's great to see other peoples builds, but seeing a new car being designed, built and best of all how to work around all the problems is the best bit of the forum.
I love reading Tribute's developments. The 250 was best, the start, the restart and the final result.

lancelot link 3rd December 2017 20:23

Give us a clue then ? doubt its Italian , German is an obvious guess ...British ?

My first thought on seeing that was that Bernie and Leepu had been let loose on it.

Mitchelkitman 6th June 2018 14:32

Looks a bit Mustang-ish to me! What's happenened to the door?

lancelot link 6th June 2018 19:43

not doing it for me ..but I'll await the final product before passing final judgement ...

Reminds me of one of these, they weren't very popular back in the day...…….

Barber 6th June 2018 21:01

Looks like a kit m3 to me. It would appear that without something to copy, thete is no flair. As fraser would say, Doomed.

Replicate has always been the easy route for lots of manufacturers ..DNA are excellent at their craft ..that's why I'm waiting to see more as the buck can often not tell the whole story ...
It's a shame they got hit so hard with the Ferrari stuff ...if they could have just kept their heads down a bit ..I think some amazing cars might have come out of their facility ...

Mitchelkitman 7th June 2018 13:29

What are we (kit car community and potential future enthusiasts) missing though??? If the only route manufacturers take is to replicate, due to belief that only replicas will sell, we then get customers thinking "I don't want a car that isn't a replica, as It'll never be worth anything"
This sad state of affairs leads to the joy of 'something different, something new' being a financial, rather than an emotive decision.
We may miss out on a truly enjoyable and exciting car if only replicas are seen as viable.

lancelot link 7th June 2018 22:34

New designs that lean heavily towards the cars that many want to replicate MIGHT be the way forward !! ?

Roadster 7th June 2018 23:24

I would think that this concept car is the inspiration for the build
http://www.hdcarwallpapers.com/walls...ncept-wide.jpg
DNA always displayed well presented cars im sure this will get admirers

What about unique designs though........ Nova?

Jaguartvr 8th June 2018 09:09

Well found indeed. The front is almost the same as an early picture that was sent to me.

The "inspired by" market will do well, the rebody style of build will be the future. IVA will slowly kill the traditional "build from the ground up" style kits in the end.

Agreed ..it's already strangling them ...very difficult to build an authentic retro styled car based on new regulations ...My friend in Holland has had his business affected greatly by currently changing regulations ...it's happening everywhere ...cars like the MEV Replicar try their best , but a whole rear panel full of various different coloured tail lights ..amongst other concessions they have to make ..just doesn't do it for me when trying to create a retro looking vehicle ...

Its a real shame but we can't stop it ..

Mister Towed 8th June 2018 15:12

Hint of Fenari 308/Lancia 037/TVR wedge about DNA's buck to me.

tricky360 8th June 2018 16:22

if i showed you guys the build photos of the 250 california when it was at the same stage as this car ,you wouldn't believe it was the same car (250)

brian knows what hes doing, this car will evolve as its being built,
there's no definate shape to follow like if your copying an already excisting car on the market. they do a bit, stand back have a look ,then might change the whole thing.
the base idea was the bmw 328 hommage but it will change as they go along and if the guy whos funding it likes what he sees, and what he wants.

Mister Towed 8th June 2018 17:39

...just like Peter Wheeler's dog then.

I could never understand why they sold so many more Chimaeras than Griffiths.

Movie cars?

Jaguartvr 9th June 2018 05:40

Not over here, you still see quite a few Chimaeras but a Griff is a rare sight nowadays.

Me too. The Griffiths was (is) TDB.

Well.... I like it! But then I always liked the Alfa SZ. Looks like a concept version - very similar to a pic on deviant art.

They marketed the chimaera as the cruiser/boulevardier and the Griff as a hairy arsed brute! Under the skin they were the same from about '95 IIRC apart from the smaller engine options for the Chim.

Jaguartvr 16th October 2018 20:15

Griff also had 4.0 and 4.3 as well as the 5.0.

never sold in the US but appeared in quite a few films.

Ah ok, never seen a griff in a film, only a Tuscan in Swordfish. IIRC from mid 90s griffs were 5 litre only and more expensive, the 4s were early on precatalyst, few were 4.3 bigvalves and v sought after now...., hence why loads of 4 litre chimaeras were sold (I’m on my second).

These were posted on another forum. It’s looking pretty special and I think set to make a hit at nationals.

One things for sure, with DNAs attention to detail and the nice little trick the car has, I can see this being a big hit!
