Battery Carrier
Can anyone explain how the Battery carrier (Rover Donor) is attached to the chasis along with the air filter (which is normaly attached together). Is the carrier cut down or something. Really at a loss here as the Marlin CD does not show this. This kit is let down for the lack of a good build manual. Rant over. If anyone has any photos woud be appreciatedd.
Thanks Mike |
Hi Mike.
I did not use the standard air filter, I used an aftermarket one. But I mounted the tray on two strips of 5mm steel. Provides a great deal of support. |
Hi Mike,
If you go on the gallery you'll see a couple of 'general location' pics that show you the right place to put it. In terms of how to secure it.....well I used a couple of holes that were already in the bottom of the tray and rivnutted the chassis frame...then bolted on. Very secure. The airfilter box then sits neatly on the side of the batt tray as OEM intended. *Big Hint:- Temp fit the air filter assy to the batt tray and inlet manifold....this then determines where you need to drill the chassis. Does this help? Rich |

Cant answer for the older style rovers, but I used a 216 bubble shape, and the carrier fittted to the holes provided by Marlin. The air filter went straight in, I would say it took me about half hour ish of cutting and tidying to make a reasonable fit. Steve |
Thank you gentlemen for your help and advise, It is now a lot clearer to me.
Just one thing Steve my donor is the R25 which is the same as your R200 donor, so the carrier is the same. The thing is I cannot see any holes in the 5EXI chassis that would line up with the battery carrier. Can you tell me where they might be located? Thanks Mike |

Ours was round so had to use some exhaust clamps to hold battery tray to tubular chassis legs. |
Square Tube. So their is the answer.
Thanks guys. Mike |

I've used Fiesta plastic housing, strenghened base and fixed to chassis, It was about £20. Brian
