Pat's A352 Build

I popped down to Devon a couple of weekends ago to see how Pat was getting on with his A352 build and to give him a few pointers on fitting the body to the Spitfire tub. He started with a really solid base car which has been looked after by the previous owner, giving Pat a running driving project from day one. He is getting on well and should be on the road soon. Here's a few pics:

Over to you Pat....

Good grief is the old duffer not finished yet! ;)

Just kidding matey, it'll be good to see how you progress with this and we'll have to met up at some of the local shows again this year. Perhaps the one at Castle Coombe?

You never know, this year i may actually drive mine to meet you rather than just keep replacing bits on it :)

talk soon.

Dave

Thanks Chris, trying to push on but it's all the fiddley bits now the only major bits are seats and paint, Skippy's school chairs hit the dump a couple of years ago the paint is going to be GULF racing light blue and orange the wheels going to be wires. Shes a K plate 1971 with a 1500 engine and O/D gearbox hence the extra wiring and a different rev counter electic as the earlier Spitfires had a cable drive. K&N filters and extractor manifold and stainless system as I got her.
Dave that Castle Combe bash looks like it could be good one, even for an old duffer, no offence I'm usually called worse, cheers peeps.

I did wonder how things were going for you. Pleased to see you are keeping busy in retirement!

Paul L 11th April 2014 06:18

Patton - Good to see you back in the garage.

Dare I ask the fate of Skippy & SkippyII?

Good luck with this project, Paul. :)

Patton 11th April 2014 19:20

Froggy, yep semi retired and keeping bizzy.
Paul, Skippy's having a bit of a rebuild engine upgrade 1500 and getting some paint and seats Skippy II is on the back burner as IVA and stuff is having to be allowed for loss of interest I'm looking for a cheap Locost/Robinhood thats already registered then just a rebodie form simples, see you all at Stoneleigh, cheers Pat

Oops

With the body now bonded on in a slightly lower stance 50mm at the front and an 25mm at the back, I'd moved the body back 20mm. Back from Stoneleigh renewed enthusiasum, bugger, door hinges now wrong interior panels don't fit, wheres the disc cutter? I'll post some piccy's when I remember how... Pat

just trying to get piccies on lets try this, attached but would sooner have on here direct keeps coming up invalid file resized an all.
It'll do for now this a starting photo and a so far photo. Having referburbed the MGB wheels bolted them rolled her outside and thought "corr" I like that even with her nose in the air lowering is next on the agenda and more rubbing down and light blue paint although the gel coat colour looks nice.
While up in the the seal on the diff input shaft was replaced £3 and half a day the after market free flow exhaust had to be cut bent and rewelded that or I never go near a speed hump.
I've emailed the pics to Chris and hes going to have a bash at putting on for me

Looking good

Work will resume shortly now the Z300 is running and on the road, (winter Tribute driving). And the Jago is being rewired to cure multiple faults

Scottie22 30th October 2014 09:26

Starting to look good Pat, theses A352's are a bit short on the ground I think, everyone seems to want Ferrari and not Jaguar!

I managed to get my build really low, and I am planning on working out where all the speed humps are in my area as no-go roads
so I don't tear the bottom out of my car!

Good luck with the rest of your build.

Patton 30th October 2014 17:37

Thanks Scottie, the front end will be dropped a couple of inches and the back not quiet as much and I will crack this getting pic's on yours is getting on nicely hope to pick some bitsn bobs up at Shepton Mallet on Saturday (Bristol Classic , restoration show 1st&2nd November)...........

Scottie22 30th October 2014 18:02

You mentioned that you did your diff oil seal, my donar is also a 71 Spit, and has a weepy diff, I already bought the two pound ninety seal, and will do mine one day, are there any pitfalls I should be aware of Pat, or is it straight forward?

Scottie

Patton 31st October 2014 07:09

No it's a simple job dropped the propshaft down at the back take the big nut off pull the flange off, then as mine was the steel backed original seal was a git to remove, hammer small chiesl and a punch laying on my back didn't help my new seal was plastic backed and went in a treat.........Pat
