Dashboard material

What material have you guys used to to make your dashboards from please ?

Reason being is that its probably the next job for me to do. The previous plonker owner added bits on the dash for show which look pathetic and to remove them would leave holes. So its time for a replacement and a tidy up of that area after Stoneleigh.

Mines aluminium then a thin layer of foam and vinyl on top.

Here's a pic:

Mine is a an aluminium and plywood composite, with a foam and leather cloth cover.

I used a thin carbon fibre composite bonded to aluminium. It is extremely tough and easily blunts saw blades but was very durable once finished and you can polish it. With the Arctic White Autometer dials it always looked very smart.
