Wheels

Gents Ive read a few threads regarding wheels sizes but is there a definitive offset size that means no spacers required on the rear? If not what ET's can you go for on the rear??

PS got a quote from image wheels £1705!!!!!!!!!!! no tyres. Ebay I go I think!

I have a cross section drawing of the rear of the MX5 with the MX250 kit fitted, just need to tidy it up before I post it. You really need 10" rims with the correct offset (low et) to forgo the spacers, but will confirm.

Have you seen these on ebay? I'm sure you have:

Has anyone fitted these?

Hammy 29th January 2013 18:23

I've been trying to do wheel shopping and keep hitting dilemmas with suppliers could you guys let me know what you've fitted please. Also can I run 8x16 on the fronts. Its the fronts I'm struggling with. Cheers

chargerstang 29th January 2013 18:38

My tire dealer has ordered the Lenso in 7 + 8 x 15 for me
in 2-3 weeks, I can tell whether the fit. I ordered the wheels with 25mm offset. I think it will fit in the front
rear I need 25mm spacers.

Wheel sizes on our Convertible demo car are as follows:

Make: Borbet A
Front 16 x 7.5" with et (offset) 20mm (no spacers)
Rear 16 x 9" with et (offset) 15mm (+25mm spacers)

Running 215/40/16 tyres all round at present, but will be fitting:

205/55/16 Front
225/50/16 Back

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMG_2078.jpg

Red demo car (gold wheels):

Make: Compomotive RF

Front 15 x 7" with et (offset) 20mm
Rear 15 x 7" with et (offset) 10mm (+50mm spacers)
205/50/15 tyres all round

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/...e/mxrear34.jpg

On the Mk2 demo car we have used:
215/40/17 all round on 8x 17 Image split Rims with 0 offset.
PCD 4 x 100 fitment with 25mm spacers on rear only.

This did require the front arches to be flared, due to the 0zero offset and 8" width.

You will be fine with 8" fronts if the offset is 25mm.

As is this one for tyre sizes:

Thanks Chris problem solved then.... 16x8 fronts. Cheers.

Guys I'm still interested to hear what the rest of you have fitted...

Love the paint on the convertible, you need to lower em all though mate, ;-)

Tribute Automotive 29th January 2013 19:06

I like lowered cars, but we have so far shown what can be achieved on a limited budget and stock MX5 underpinning.

Hammy 29th January 2013 19:16

Prrrrraise the lowered!! Lol

Hammy 29th January 2013 19:17

Did mine for 165 fitted :-)

grayone 29th January 2013 20:08

Thank you, can't wait to see your car in colour, how's it going?

Hammy 30th January 2013 08:59

Has anyone got a piccy of a lowered car on 15s?

seanick 30th January 2013 17:08

My rears are 15" rims, with 225/55 tyres, giving a total diameter of 24 1/4", 2" more than the standard MX.
Lowered 40mm on £500 worth of KYB shocks, adjustable.
The fronts are 185/70s I think.

The original 250GTO ran 15" 185/80 all round. 26" diameter.

Hammy 31st January 2013 16:12

These are what I went for in black with polished rim

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Axe-EX2-Al...item27c9bcbe02

Will be fitting spinners to so theyll be pretty close to my original choice but wont cost £1700

chargerstang 31st January 2013 17:04

The look really good.
Let's see if the mounted.
