Cam Belt Replacing

Hi All,
Before installing my engine (1600 K) i thought it would be a good idea to change the cam belt. Reading the instructions it says to replace the "patchlock" bolt that hold the auto tensioner on but having bought a cam belt kit it contains everything except this "patchlock" bolt. Can anyone tell me what a patchlock bolt is and does it have to be replaced or can I reuse the old one

Regards

Hi Mike,

When I did my Cambelt I changed only the belt, as this was all that was required. I checked the tensioner roller bearing but this was OK.

My engine is a 1.6K with a manual tensioner (1998 model year). The later engines have auto tensioners...maybe they require different procedure?

Mike

I done my new belt as well, never changed any bolts, had a good tip though from my local friendly garage. In order to keep the sprockets in place, before removing the belt, tap a piece of softwood like pine in the gap, the sprockets did not move. I am sure this is not the officila method, but hey, it worked for me.

Good luck

Steve
