Tiger Cat E1 Breaks (Or lack of)

Hi there

The breaks on my Cat E1 are shocking!!! :scared: It has Sierra Hubs and callipers. Solid discs at front and Drum brakes at rear.

The pedel feels rock hard, and to make the breaks work I have to put in loads of effort.

Has anyone got any tips on improving the performance of non servo assisted breaks (other than fitting servo's)?

Many thanks

Chris

....fit a servo :tape2:

if they are anything like the Cortina breaks I had on my Sumo then I feel your pain. Shockingly bad in standard fitment.

Someone more experienced than me will probably suggest a setup for you, no doubt it will be replacement master cylinder, calipers and maybe a caliper upgrade on the rear.

Have you spoken to Tiger to see what they suggest or perhaps even Westfield.

Cheers, John

I had a Cat E1 exactly the same thing, I had to put a lot of effort in, we live in a world of luxury with our modern brakes though:-) I seem to remember looking at a remote brake servo kit that you could mount lower down the bulkhead, so it doesn't poke out the bonnet, I also remember measuring up to fit the standard lower down too. I'm not sure bigger brakes will help, they will just need more effort to operate. Isit actually a problem getting it to stop?
