Rear view mirror

Hi guys question for you. I would like to install a dash mounted rear view mirror but as I want to tour the car I am concerned as to how effective they are.
Those of you who have one, would you recommend it or should I stay standard Z3.
Thanks

I seem to recall someone having problems when the rear view mirror if removed as the alarm system is incorporated into it in some way.

Crap visibility and the alarm/ remote locking is incorporated in them.

Thanks folks. I think I will keep standard

Hi,

Alarm and locking circuit can be removed and tucked away under interior light unit. Dash mounted mirror will give you more visibility in front as Z3 one is huge. But rubbish visibility to rear, as mirrors are smallish and no where near as good as the Z3. I prefer to focus whats in front of me, but this is personal preference, also with soft top easy to look over shoulder and/or hear things coming.

Cheers.

Thanks Eric - didn't know that. I might ditch the rear view mirror.

Anyone know if they are a legal requirement in the UK?

I only use mine to check for blue flashing lights and running on 9 points I drive like a nun anyway

Mirror position ?

Not sure what car you have but the standard Z3 mirror can be moved a bit with a bracket.

On our 275 coupe I made a flat aluminium plate which lowered it about 20mm; along with taller rear tyres on 15" rims, the rear view is now fine.
