I've heard a lot about Tribute Automotive on this web site and have been impressed by the comments made regarding the quality of their work, so I'm hopeful things will proceed according to plan...

WorldClassAccident 8th December 2012 16:36

They have a subsection just like Sammio/Ribble.

See what they did to create the mini e-type and the time they did it in. There is a lot of positive feedback about them.

Nike 55 - Great to hear that progress is being made.

Are there any photos of what is looks like now?

Good luck, Paul. :)

Nike55 9th December 2012 16:33

Hi Paul, thanks for comment.

No pictures (other than those prev posted) yet as I haven't seen the Scim since last Feb...

I hope to get down to Tribute Automotive in a few weeks, after the hump has been fitted (weather permitting) so maybe a few snaps then...

WorldClassAccident 9th December 2012 18:51

If you want to stop off at Southampton on the way up or down, you are welcome. No problem if it isn't convenient. Pm me if you do, I am here most of the time.

Thanks WCA. Will 'pm'.

Tribute Automotive have advised that the second head fairing ('hump') has been manufactured and will be fitted shortly.

However due to the increased seasonal demand of their products this will now take place in the early New Year, which is perfectly acceptable to me, so further updates to follow in early 2013..

If the world doesn't end today may I extend my personal seasonal greetings to all and wish all my readers a happy and prosperous New Year...

Merry Solstice!

Twin humps is the future!

Or apocalyptic destruction.

Either way, happy Christmas everyone

davecymru 21st December 2012 09:40

Sounds like it will be an exciting new year!

I pointed out to my friends the other day, that with typical British humor the TV schedulers have scheduled the documentary on the end-of-the-world for the weekend "after" the world is meant to end! :)

Mister Towed 21st December 2012 09:54

Merry Christmas everyone.

As for the end of the world in half an hour's time, this is my favourite death joke -

Knock knock.

Who's there?

The Grim Reaper.

The Grim Reaper hghh...

Nike55 22nd December 2012 01:01

So..the world didn't end then?

Well it might have shifted in a millisecond to a parallel universe and we just carried on as usual, perhaps with one or two slightly different event outcomes.. but in any case I guess it means I'll be spending next year up to my armpits in glass fibre..

Oh well, Happy New Year!

My little Sammio is still sitting in The Glade: Conclusive proof that my world hasn't come to an end. OK, it's come to a temporary halt, but not an end.

Merry Christmas one and all. I hope that 2013 brings plenty of skinned knuckles and swearing, i.e. progress.

Good luck, Paul. :)

The 1958 Rocker 26th December 2012 19:30

RE THE PHOTO ON THE FIRST PAGE OF THIS THREAD, Do you know, I used the same sort of system for the repair of a 1970 Dodge Coronet 440 with engine and box still in it. Not quite so high though. Yep I'm still here too! Don't try this at home kids.

Any update on the build Nigel? I'd love to see it when it's done.

Regards

Jim

Nike55 21st March 2013 14:02

Hi Jim. Welcome to the 'dark side'.

Sorry nothing to relate at present. The Scimitar is still in deepest Dorset where it has been resting since 9 February 2012, now in the care of the nice guys at Tribute Automotive.

I hope to have more positive news next month..

Nike55 12th April 2013 11:30

Obligatory ridiculous image of newly delivered G46 from Dorset.

Now the fun begins -- after I stop sobbing over what they've done to my Scimitar...

Thanks to Lancelot Link and Mikmiglia for concept and basic body.

Huge thanks to Chris Welch at Tribute Automotive for recovery of vehicle to their base last November and for arranging the VOSA inspection yesterday and the same day recovery of the vehicle to Watford by Andy and Jordan.

 just found an old pic:

good luck with the build - we must be due some sun soon :-)

Nike55 12th April 2013 13:19

Lovely pic.

I dare not upload pics of the current condition - it would make you weep, but 'you cannot make an Omellete...' etc.

I just hope I don't end up with something that looks like the dogs dinner - rather than the dogs dangly bits..

scimjim 12th April 2013 16:45

I'm sure it will look great again - wish I could find some pics of it in 1999 when I dragged it home after it had been standing for 12 years!
