I downloaded their Catalogue and I'm still drooling. It makes me want to build a hot rod!!
Just take a look at all the adaptors and things !!

Their Technical manual is also quite interesting bedtime reading.....

Peter
I was up until 2.30am on Sunday night looking at Hot rods and Rat rods* on Youtube. They just look so much fun.

My favourite : 1923 Ford T- bucket in Black. Adams family style.

Those cars are just insane! One guy just put it in to gear at tick-over and spun his wheels up - on tick-over!!!!

Each user could then drill two holes to match their own master cylinder, and fix with counter sunk set screws? There is no need to ensure a vacuum seal, so as long as the screws are seated below the face there will be no problem.

Is anyone interested in this option?

I don't know what the cost would be, but if I can get 10-15 made locally they shouldn't be too expensive in self colour.

Put me down for one of those as well please :-)

Cheers Robin

We do not seem to have reached many of the existing earlier Sportster owners? I will try to contact the Membership Secretary and the Sportster committe member to see if they will allow us to contact existing owners direct.
There will not be many Cabrio owners, as most have fitted Ford (some BMW M20) engines, and will have been able to utilise the bigger standard Ford servo.

Madabout contributors who might (?) be interested:
MSportster (Patrick)
Morris (Ian)
Glen

.......any others?

Are people happy to source their own clevis? I am happy to source a job lot and post at cost if the interest is there?

denniswpearce 16th November 2011 16:30

Oh and count me in for the clevis pin, not sure if I need it it but hey, it might be needed.

If you want any money up front, happy to oblige. Don't want anyone out of pocket on my behalf.

Hi Jeremy

I have enjoyed being able to give something back to all those who have contributed through this and other forums and helped me so much with my own build.

I hope we can get a few more interested yet..................

Mike

Mike

Great efforts on this, looks like a good solution to the poor brakes problem.

Add me to the group buy list if it goes ahead.

Booster, Adapter Plate and Long Clevis.

Regards

Whoa, haven't logged in for a few days and missed all this. You can put me down for servo in whatever finish is available provided it's not bright green or something else non-metallic or black.

I kind of got a bit lost while quickly reading through the backlog so I'll take advice as to whether I need an adaptor and longer clevis.
I'm going for an E30 cylinder with the res on top as BMW intended so as that's the same as Mike, I guess it's a yes on both items

NigelB 17th November 2011 20:13

Things move so fast on here I think I'm out of breath...................!

I'm not sure what I'll need at the moment but put me down for an adaptor plate and clevis as well please.

Update

Hi All

Quick Update
  • Spoke to Duksville today - Paul advises his supplier is out of stock, and does not expect to receive a new delivery this side of Christmas. I think we may have to wait longer than that, but we'll see.

I've had a search for manufacturers in the US, but to get them here at Duksville's price we would have to be a dealer - so unlikely, but worth a try.

    Universal Adaptor

    http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6118/...e646aa73a1.jpg

My aim is to make a plate like this, excluding the two threaded screw fixings. You can then drill and counter sink your own to suit your particular master cylinder and angle.
The two smaller holes will be determined by the Dual Servo's studs.

    Dedicated Adaptor?
For those of you with master cylinders that have the same stud centres as the Metro, and who are willing to risk getting the correct angle relative to the servo, I could get studs welded in. What are your preferences? Now I think about it could this suit the majority?

I need to know the maximum dia. of centre hole required. Has anyone had any problem fitting their master cylinder to the Metro servo. Can I take it as a given that the hole needs only to match the Metro servo?

Jason has proven that the new Dual servo is self sealed, so there will be no requirement for the recess shown around the centre hole.

The bite out the side is for where the vacuum elbow fits, so will be common to all adaptors.

Mike

MartinClan 18th November 2011 07:35

Personally I think it would be better to produce the adapter plate just with the holes for fixing it to the servo. Its not a huge job to drill and countersink two holes for the master cylinder fixings and I suspect there is quite a variation of master cylinders in use out there as Marlin changed their preferences more than once.

On another front there seems to be plenty of places in the US that will sell you a servo directly but the cost of delivery to the UK is eye watering....

Cheers

Robin

To get a good price we would need to buy from a manufacturer and get a dealer discount. I am trying to contact mbm, but even if we ordered, say 20, I don't know whether they will fob us off to Pirate Jack their end user dealer.

Paul at Duksville suggested his source came from Taiwan - does anyone have contacts out there?!

Hey Mike,
You've got me down for 2 servos. It might be a good idea but I think I'll struggle with space.........................!!
Just the one will do me fine.
Cheers

Again I missed a load of stuff by not visiting in a couple days! I need to be less busy :)

Please count me for all 3 items :) stainless servo if it's not too much more than zinc.
