Ferrari 250 SWB resource
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where people can say about the cars appearing in magazines, books, on TV, in the internet, in dealers, on ebay, etc Anything that helps us all get our cars to look more like the real McCoy.
Can we just keep it to this model or closely related though. Not photos of your donor MX-5 (however nice). I'll start with this months (February 2016) Classic and Sports car. It has a good article on Sir Sterling Moss race 250 SWB now belonging to Ross Brawn. http://i1042.photobucket.com/albums/...psw0o3tjgs.jpg |
Funny you should say that. I was bored a while back, was doing a bit of surfing and googled mx250 ... To my surprise I've found and advert selling my car !!! My car is not for sale (yet) the cheek of some people .

Just found this by accident on you tube. Its Derek Bell driving a 250 GTO for 7 minutes on a hillclimb course...pure indulgence!

To date, one of our most highly-regarded films has been “The Ferrari 250 GTO Speaks for Itself”, focused around Derek Hill and—without a doubt—a V12-powered legend. It wasn’t the whole story, however.' |
Lovely sounding motor (obviously), and I've always loved the 'Italian Ape' knees bent arms outstretched driving position.
It's also interesting to see that a pure race car - no speedo, just a big tacho and auxiliary gauges with a trailer waiting to take it back to the workshop after its blast - was trimmed for comfort instead of ultimate lightness. Any idea what the rest of the story was Froggyman? |
That is Derek Hill driving - the son of US F1 Champion, Phil Hill. He's had a good career - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dere...racing_driver) - and is still competing. He's big with Ferraris.......as was his Dad.

No, sorry Mister Toad- that was the description on the you tube clip which I pasted on to show that the long legged guy driving was Derek Hii not Bell.

Come across this guy building a 250 GTO in a chicken shed in NZ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzNQUPR73Hw
Pure engineering magic. |
Just when you think you are getting good at this car building stuff, this comes along and puts a new perspective on the industry. I can only hope to one day be as skilled as this chap.
