hood fitting
Hi guys, have bee off the project for some time but am coming close to sva time.
Does anyone have fixing instructions or advice on fitting the hood??? Also, the mirrors i bought from Marlin were too tight. When i tried to loosen one, the alloy base snapped!!!!! Has any one got a spare n/s mirror for sale or a pair of better quality ones that would pass sva?? cheers |
Hi Paul.
Yes mirrors was tight on mine. I drilled out the centre and used a nut and locking bolt. A bit late for you now though. Mirrors are not spare yet. Can't comment on hood fitting because Marlin fitted mine. But there is a thread here that might help. http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...highlight=hood |
I've just fitted my hood. In jist I laid the hood in position, marked the outline, made sure it was symetrical each side, then drilled holes ~15mm above the outline marks, at 100mm intervals.
I bought fasteners from Woolies. Hood stays on fine at speed, but as it helps contain the noise, I have to wear ears plugs with it! Cheers, John. |
hood & mirrors
Thanks for the help guys. Photos will be usefull.
Any ideas where I can get new mirrors (sva compliant) All the ones I have seen don't seem to comply other than the Caterham ones which will not look too good. |
If it's any help, the Marlin ones are motorbike mirrors.
Other than that, find out from Terry if the can send you some. You never know your luck.:) Possibly in about 3 weeks, I could have mine spare. But not sure of your time lines. |
The mirrors are a honda design like these ones about 9th down cbr 600/1000

You are great with the help |
Has anyone tried fitting mirrors to the windscreen pillars like the Javan instead of to the body sides? Just wondered!
