Chrome Spraying
Beemaman from the DNA forum paints a lot of the DNA cars and is investing in a chrome spraying system. He won't be up and running for a few weeks yet but I spoke to him about getting the 250 mouth aperture chrome sprayed and he seemed to think around £150>£200. The cost is in the prep, the part has to be prepared and painted black to start with, the Finish has to be perfect before the chrome can be applied. I'm going to be sending him my panel as soon as he is up and running. He doesn't want to confirm the prices until he has finished a few.
Here is a link to show you the process, but of course it is really magic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt2Z4Esi-CU Now all we need is Chris to sneak round to Smash's and do a splash mould of his bumpers! |
Seeing DNA get their fibreglass bumpers done using this process was a welcome development as I was wondering how I was going to get the right look on my Daytona bumpers.
Interesting video of the process, thanks for posting. Definitely a future customer. John |
Brilliant, they will be very busy...

And- it looks like you no longer need overalls, gloves or a mask when working in a spray booth - providing you are holding a camera. Wonder if it works with 2-pack? |
Looks strange that it all seems to be done with a wet surface until the final part - modern stuff is sometimes beyond my understanding :jaw:
|
Now that's magic...

:jaw: I reckon it was chrome underneath the black and we have just watched someone carefully sand blasting a fuel tank...
